Not to start a whole other debate but I was actually reading my manual this evening because I was bored and came across the oil section.
This doesn't give me a ton of confidence that warranty will be maintained when using anything other than VES oil. It clearly says "NEVER mix oil brands or use non-recommended oil" which is stated to be VES 2-Cycle Full Synthetic Engine oil.
While it doesn't explicitly say "we will deny your warranty claim if you are using a different oil' it does say that 'damage or failure resulting from the use of non-recommended lubricants or fluids is not covered by this warranty"
I'm curious if this is the same wording used in the US manual because the The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act that has been referenced in this thread was a US case and is governed under the FTC...
Just curious if anyone knows if there is similar consumer protection for this mater in Canada?

Polaris puts that stuff in the manual to put the fear of god into owners and sometimes it works..

Aluminum is not intelligent. It doesnt know the difference between brand.....color...smell...cost...synthetic....semi synthetic or mineral base stocks.
It is there for lubrication...to be burnt...and to get out of the way....thats it.

Ive ran Legend zx2sr MINERAL oil in my 850s since 2019. These sleds were broke in on it from new. Had it in the reservoirs while it left the dealer. Even had an engine go down at 50 miles on my 2021 850 assault because of air bubble in oil line....it had legend in it at the time. ZERO issues from Polaris with warranty. I use this oil for various reasons i believe in....is it better than any other oil??.....dont know...but has done a very goodjob protecting my toys for thousands of miles on multiple sleds since 2012. It has earned my faith.

Once again...run what makes you happy pricewise...availability wise...and lets you sleep at night wise....if its Polaris oil that does it...so be it.

Dont overthink it.

I have never heard of Polaris or any other brand denying a warranty claim based on oil.
Agreed. I'm in the lubricant industry and even with oil analysis I have trouble saying without a doubt a failure is oil related. It can be difficult to determine via analysis if oil is brand X even when I know it's brand X.

A friend of mine just informed me that if a manufacturer is forcing to use a certain brand of lubricant the said lubricant must be supplied free of charge. The dealer I deal with an alarm goes off even if i try and purchase regular ves and I am swarmed by dealer oil police telling me i can not. It is like I just murdered some one. I never know how to react so I get the extreme and walk out with a sore asshole.

Carbon Clean Advantage: Polaris Carbon Clean Fuel Treatment is a high-quality fuel treatment, designed to clean and protect small engine fuel systems for up to two years. The proprietary alcohol free additive system is formulated using the latest technology to clean the fuel system and maintain fuel quality.

Alcohol free. Some fuel treatments contain alcohol, which when used in ethanol-blended fuels (E10) can increase the alcohol content of the fuel over the recommended maximum for the engine. This can result in hotter burning of fuel, leading to higher cylinder head, combustion chamber and exhaust port temperatures which can damage the engine.

Polaris Proprietary Formula: Modern ethanol-blended (E10) fuels are designed to be used shortly after they are produced and begin to degrade after a short period. Carbon Clean is a premium powersports grade fuel treatment which provides long-term fuel stability, cleans entire fuel system from fuel tank to exhaust, and provides corrosion inhibition for sensitive fuel system components like idle jets or injector nozzles.

Custom Additive System: Polaris Carbon Clean uses advanced fuel detergents to remove existing carbon deposit inside the engine and maintain peak performance. The cleaning capabilities helps prevent and remove byproducts of oxidation such as gum and varnish.

At the dealer they had a little display comparing carbon clean vs regular polaris fuel stabilizer. It's definitely a fuel stabilizer.

Also here's a Polaris YouTube video..at the start he talks about fuel and carbon clean.

alcohol burns colder. not hotter. keep drinking the poo laid. while it's not good to add alcohol to ethanol based fuel .( more alcohol) more water absorption not hotter burning would be the out come. don't listen to mfg. for the truth. oh our UTV'S are safe? how many fires and death's? just saying.

they recommend the use. key word recommend. does not say must use? they deny me warranty and i will spread it all over the internet. i have a customer that puts what ever he has one hand in his 2016 Polaris 800. mixes all different kinds and makes oil together. even mineral oil with syn. he has done this since the 90's. he has never had a motor go down. they can't say that in the U.S. illegal to do so. one call they will change there tune instantly. the number has changed. i will post it when i find out the new number. in the U.S. if they say must use? the MFG. MUST PROVIDE THE OIL OR OTHER FLIUD FREE. only case different if there was no alternative?

I've got friends with newer polaris 800 sleds than that have been using spectro sync sync forever, plus whatever is handy when they run out. None have ever had an engine issue from the oil.

The owner of Southside only uses Mystik if that means anything. I know nothing about it and have no real opinion or anything but I suppose when you have the means to get, replace, or rebuild whatever you need or want it doesn’t matter anyway - like anything else use good quality and take care of your stuff and it’ll be fine
