This little note is in the matryx service manual. Will polaris provide the oil?

Asking for a friend....

No. This is just like BRP saying you need to use XPS. If the oil meets or exceeds JASO FD specifications it's safe to use.

IPONE Snow2
Amsoil Interceptor
Klotz Snowmobile 2T
And many others are all safe to use. My Polaris dealer told me they won't deny warranty if it's at least 'good' oil.

Every manufacturer says use their oil. They're a reason - Sales and more money.

Lubetech is the maker of all 4 oem snowmobile oil and each has their mixture and colors. But that 'special additive' only specific to each oem oil is that new formulas are ester based oils now. VES Extreme and XPS 2T were updated formulas to be ester based oils..

Long rant, but use whatever you want. I use IPONE 2C because it has a nicer smell. No issues on any Polaris or Doo Etec motors after 20,000km+ total since 2020.

There are many different additive combinations, that are capable of meeting an engine oil spec, with the appropriate base oil.
Yes there is. But if it says Dexos for instance, it has to have that package. So it really doesn't matter what brand of oil it is. For average consumer it makes no difference. Not to get off subject, but I know company's that only use Shell oil or Some expensive Synthetic oil, we use house brand cheapest oil, all engines sample very close in the 500hr service and they all went 13-15k hrs with no issues. So with today's oils, it really doesn't matter if engine is sound

When i get a demo sled, I always ask do I need to get whatever oil for the brand. They've always said, run whatever u have. Never been told I had to use specific oil

I'm trying to buy a 55 gallon drum of either mystik or Lucas but having a hard time finding a place that will order one for me. It says on the website it's sold in that container but when I ask the store they say it's not an option for them?

You will notice the word recommends.

A few years ago Bombardier used the word REQUIRED, and under threat of a lawsuit, had to change their owners manuals and correct the policy communicated to their dealers.

The phrase: In some applications, such as the engines, Warranty may be void...
is to provide the manufacturer protection if the owner uses a product that does NOT meet the published Polaris specs. Notice that is says MAY be void.

Get ahold of mystic themselves and inquire about where in your area they would get you a 55gallon. I’ll just throw my hat in there he circle and say is good oil. (JT4 full synthetic.)

I have not been able to find published oil requirements for any oem. Obviously they don't want us to know so we just keep buying their over priced snake oil.

Dealer service mgrs were schooled by Poo and Doo to ask this question when a blown motor comes in under warranty - 'what oil are you using'. Of course, the service mgr looks in the tank, too. OEM warranty approval will ask them the same question. If non-OEM, it opens the door for them to get picky and dig further. Just the way it is. Dealer and customer relationship matter, too.

With that said, run a good oil for your pour point, your application, how your store, etc., i.e., high rpm race motors should run a high temp low detergent low rust preventative additive package, trail motors need rust and detergent packs, mountain motors need a temp pack. VES Extreme is overkill for most Joe trail riders, but fewer formulations are easier for both the OEM and Dealer, and neither will turn down the extra jing. Dealers and OEMs both make bank on oil, it's the printer ink of the sled industry, more than carbides and sliders.

When I used VES Extreme my sleds seemed to drink it. Switched to regular VES and oil usage seems much more reasonable.
VES Extreme is just like XPS 2T. Low viscosity. VES, IPONE, Amsoil Interceptor, and Klotz are mostly the same and a little thicker.

Unless you ride in -60C or lower, any of those oils will still do the job.

Learnt a longtime ago using cheaper oil instead of polaris oil never costs more than a tank of fuel at the end of the year. think i have 9 small barrels and a 45gallon one in the last 24 years. Definitely helps to buy right though

Saves me about $300 a year, not really the reason I do it, I just run the same oil in every 2 stroke thing I own. Makes it easy and have had fantastic luck with it. $300 these days doesn't even get me through 1 day of riding with the family 😂😭.

this is the first year in 24 i never bought a barrel. usually split with 4 buddies. lost my cheap supplier this year. the big barrel cost under 900 17 years ago the little bastard cost 1100 last year

Here's a good video comparing expensive oil vs cheap oil. Unless u sample, u dont know what the oil u are using is doing to engine. Specially if u go by price. I had samples of new 2stroke oil, VES, RACE, EXTREME, INTERCEPTOR, DOMINATOR I can't get into my old email, very little difference between them. To bad there wasn't a way to test them during use or after mixing with fuel

It seems there is never a “bad” oil until a sled goes down and there is no definitive answer as to why or what happened so it’s what ever oil is in the tank probably caused it… I can say I’ve never heard it was the oils fault on any engine failure I’ve seen. Lots of good and very good oils out there don’t know of any terrible or not so good oils either 🤨
