Coming over from skidoo I was a bit shocked at how much the VES extreme oil is compared to pretty much everything else on the market.
$89.99 Canadian for a gallon of oil is insane in my opinion.
I was paying $72 per gallon at the skidoo dealer for 'bulk oil' which was the XPS synthetic in unmarked jugs.
Even the full price consumer jugs of the XPS oil are $79.99
What is everyone's opinion of running oil other than VES extreme?
Warranty concerns?
I have been in the camp of "always run the manufacturers recommended oil" in the past but having to pay $18 more per gallon is making me think.
I ran XPS oil for over 10,000km in my 850 etec and never had an issue, why wouldn't it be good enough for the patriot 850?
I've seen those cold flow test videos and it looks like amsoil interceptor performs well...
Used Amsoil for over 5,000 miles in my 19/850/XC. Rode in lots of -30c to -40c. Never had a single engine issue. Pulled my exhaust valves at 3,000 miles, not needed. My 22/650/XC has 2,000 miles on the same oil. Works like it should. Way cheaper to buy as well.

You can do this on everything part of the sport. You can what’s a little bit more on tons if things.

Everyone has different limits. Be it actual or mental.

Also, there are many peeps that have 3-5 sleds to feed. I ride alot with one family of 4 active riders and one with 5. Mine was just 3 and that ouched at times.
I totally get it. Maybe equate it to price per gallon of fuel (cost of oil per gallon of fuel)..

Yeah the prices are getting nuts. A few of us Ontario guys should get together and split a drum or something. I've been looking at the motul synthetic. It's at Canadian Tire and royal and goes on sale sometimes but it's still pretty pricey at $82.99 a gallon.

I went in with some buddies yrs ago on a 45gal drum of Interceptor. Can't remember exact cost, but $1100 cdn rings a bell. I'm sure its quite a bit more now lol.

I bought 4 gallons of Klotz a Royal on their tent sale for $55/gal and no tax. Seemed like a decent deal.

Hard to when you can’t pull’m out. Lolol
Have literally never had an issue. We have ran it in '01 500xc, '03 pro x 7, '03 800 edge x, '06 600 SB, '07 700 dragon, '08 shift, '09 dragon 8, '09 iq 8, '12 rush 8, '14 600 pro r, '16 pro x SB 8, '16 pro s SB 8, '18 600 assault, '19 600 xc, '20 XCR SB 800, '22 650 XCR and '22 850 XCR. That doesn't take in to account my in-laws sleds either.

And there us where oil threads shoulf be left……use whatever works for you and let’s you sleep at night. :thumbs

Do you know of failures using Mystic by chance? Don't let paying more make you think it has to be better.
Single highest margin item they sell with the Polaris name on it FYI.
Nope. I have no opinion to offer on what type of oil to use. I just don't think it's worth the effort to pay attention to the cost of it in the grand scheme of things.

Went in with several of our guys years ago for a barrel of spectro syn snow. I filled 1/2 dozen gallon jugs with it, and still got 2 left. Cost I figured at the time came out to about $30 a gal. This stuff has been far better than the Polaris ves oils I've tried.
I hate stinky oils to. The spectro stuff is pretty normal with a slight sweetness aroma.

Ya not a bad idea. Amsoil interceptor is a better deal than that and pretty highly recommended.
I'm an Amsoil guys. Was sponsored buy them for year. I run interceptor in all my stuff including my new 23 850. Even if not that much cheaper,
it's a better, cleaner burning oil. Check out the test they did on some snowmobile engines using the leading oils. (skidoo) i believe. Same hours and conditions.
Tore into the engines after so many miles. be suprised how much cleaner and less wear the amsoil engine was.

Mystik is what I have run in my sleds for last 15 years including some with over 12k on them. Crank bearings look like new yet. I believe any purpose blended oil will work in a 2 stroke. The key is if it is getting oil. The type makes little difference and is more personal preference. (And a subject of debate for as long as this forum has been online)

If burnt tranny fluid almost works, and would have if a more normal rider would have used it until it went through it all, true story. Any reasonable 2 stroke oil will work. Another vote for Mystic and Arctic Blue.

I switched to Mystic from VES extreme, I’m happy I did the sleds smoke less on warm up and don’t have that eye burning smell. I did find my sleds use a little more oil per mile on it but nothing to extreme, I may be crazy but I also felt they ran a touch better after a few hundred miles of being on Mystik.
