I believe Roger means .098". But, because these aren't rack-mounted carbs like a 800 XCR, you will have a hard time setting to this spec unless you remove each carb and preset it from the OUTLET side before installation. And, the 700 may not end up at the same dimension as a 800.
On round slide carbs, I would recommend setting them while installed using a 7/32-1/4" drill bit from the INLET side under the cutaway of the slide. If the engine was idleing at the correct rpm before, just pick a drill bit that fits under the tightest one. This is to get them all equal at idle only. Mark each thumb screw adjuster with red dry marker so later you can raise/lower the slides equally to achieve desired idle rpm.
Make sure each idle air screw is set the same as specified on the underhood jetting label.
Then adjust each cable to achieve equal opening as throttle is moved. Pay attention to maintaining correct slack in throttle lever to make safety switch work correctly. You may have to readjust this after you set the slides to the desired idle rpm.
