Yes, a softer start rate spring will lower your engagement. My father and I both use a 130 lb start rate spring and that gets your engagement down to about 2500 rpm. It makes for nice smooth take offs and you can drive real slow on pavement. The 1200 has plenty of torque for the low engagement. It works very well. I've had the cudney clutch kit in a 1200 with the 160 start spring and it's easy to much. Way to aggressive in my opinion.
Thanks, I'll look into finding somne softer springs. Bought the clutch thru madsled.com , pre-calibrated for the 1200 but no mention of components used.

I actually bought 2 clutches, 1 for a buddy with a hi-mileage renegade '12 or 13 Renegade 1200. Was fun to see his reaction when I put his sled on the side and popped off the clutch using the clutch bolt + water. And after start-up "Damn! its so quiet!" :D

I run a D&D Yellow spring and 77 G cat weights, Not sure what starting point I would be at with this clutch. Is their customer service good?
