I can get about 112 mph on the dreamometer on the 600. My guess with the 700, you would be looking close to 120 mph.

My 1999 700 was off 12 MPH from radar, best was 115 on speedo, 103 on radar, kind of a dog I thought. After I traded it, they found a broken motor mt.

112 on the 98 XC 6? I'm curious of how you have yours set-up? What distance? I've seen maybe 105 in 3/4 mile.[/b]
I have no idea what has been done to the sled. I bought it 3 years ago. The person I bought it from said some work had been done to it by the previoous owner, but I didn't get the details. It doesn't matter to me. The sled is used for mainly trail riding and now my son is using it. I had the first opportunity to run it wide open this year on a lake in early winter, about 2" of powder and a pretty long run netted the 112 mph on the speedo.

I have just "upgraded" to a 2002, 600 XCSP/M-10. From the initial messing around this past weekend, the 98 can kick it's ass all over the place!! Those 98's XC's are one quick sled.

Saw 175 km/h (110mph) on the speedo on my 99 - and that was with tow sled! on snow covered sea ice.

That was with stock clutching, which did great top end even if it took a while to get there. After clutching it, I lost a couple mph up on top, but got there a whole lot quicker.

i saw 110 on speedo on a long straight trail. rpm's were too high and from my marker on the clutch sheave, belt wasnt making it to the top of the primary either. i think it'll do 110 on radar for sure.

I had a '98 XC 600 that was completely stock except for 120 studs. The sled would hit 104 mph (radar) consistently in 2000' if the air temps were cold and the ice was good. The speedo showed 110, so it was off by 6 mph. A friend of the family had a '98 XC 600, and his also hit 104 (radar).

Many years ago my son and I went ice-fishing with a bunch of my co-workers. Conditions were PERFECT, and I had my sled with me. On that frigid morning, the speedo was hitting the 112-113 mark for me and all of my co-workers who dared to hold it open across the pond. Actual speed would have been 105, I think.

My father-in-law had a limited-build '97 XC 700 twin that was faster than my 600. <edit> I don't have radar numbers for the 700, but it showed bigger numbers on the speedometer.

My lightly studded bone stock '98 XC700 radared at 112 every pass (keep in mind I only weighed 155 lbs) ..... I pi$$ed off a lot of big triples back in the day.... dam I miss that sled. My '03 700 doesn't feel anywhere near the snot my 'ol 98 put to the ice...
