Doolys are not what you want if you are running polaris prosteer skis.
Go with a deeper single runner, you want it to act as an extension to the keel of the ski and that will help get rid of understeer, especially in loose conditions.
Stick with Woodys, some might say studboy shapers but they don't hold up well at all and the new Woody's maverick is a similar design.
I would go with an 8" Woody's ace (square bar), will be a big improvement over what you are running.

Sorry fellas but I have to disagree, I know multiple people that have gone down the dual carbide route and it didn't get them what they wanted.
You are effectively spreading the weight out over a wider area so it is easier to outdrive your skis or 'push' while cornering.
They work well on a 4 stroke sled because the extra weight on the front allows them to press into the snow more.
The only benefit they will give you on a 650/850 polaris is they will dart less and probably wear longer.

I’m sure setup has a lot to do with what works. I run a lot of preload, so about as much ski pressure as you’re gonna get. One of the guys I ride with tried shapers on his XCR before going with the Deuce. The Stud Boys are narrower than traditional dualies, and have a pretty tall keel and a thick bar that will not bend - they dig and don’t push as much as you think. Firm trails they rail tight… Just my experience.

I've never understood these. They are crazy popular but also super expensive. To me it just looks like a round bar with 3 carbides on it... How does adding carbides to the sides of the centre one help handling? I'm curious

I know a guy who probably spend $1000 on carbides for his 850 axys. Wouldn't listen to anything we told him and seemingly didn't even read a forum, sales guys were having a hay day lol

 

my 3 aggressively studded ripsaw and cobra 120" Axys, 2 8's and the 6 I still have all intuitively razor(ed) trail on pro steers 8" executives, or now 8" magnums

I think the pro steer skis worked well for a 120/ maybe a 129 but with a 137 you either need a really aggressive runner or to just switch to a ski with a longer and deeper keel (that's what I did)

Woodys Marerick runners with navigators. triple points? not a chance. dually anything? you want to die? they don't turn on ice for shit. we test everything and my son raced sno-x and i raced oval track. we know what works and what are gimmicks.

 

2 studs per bar Cobra track 1.35201 lugs

 

129 with 2 studs per bar and pro steer skis... I would suggest 6 or 8" Woody's ace or snowstuds sniper (both square host bars)
Depth of the runner will add more depth to the keel of the prosteer ski.
That will work way better than a dual carbide.

 

I was Woodys 10” competition Carbides on all my Cats for many yrs. But have been running nothing but stud boy 7.5 shaper bars for a long time now. They wear awesome like many if not abused. My heavy front end apex yrs back had 9,000 miles on a set! So many factors here… this can be like an oil thread ! My personal opinion is I don’t mind a bit of steering effort, it’s never bothered me. But every sled I’ve owned turns! a must for me. I’ve only ever owned woodys or stud boy bars.. both excellent if you get into the better bar.

 

I run the Bergstrom Triples. They are spendy but they last way longer than others. They handle great!

What's riders opinions on Shaper vs Sniper bars?
Have ran 6-9" Shaper bars forever with 7.5" seeming to be the sweet spot for me on shimmed Prosteer ski's. Was looking to run Grippers this year with 7.5" Shapers and Navigators, but Sniper looks like good bar too.

I just picked up some bergstroms from the Toronto show to try for this year.

 

Some buddies have used the Qualipieces new Trek carbides with great results. Easier steering but aggressive bite in corners and no fear of build up Between the two bars. They need an extra hole drilled for the front to accommodate the front tip.

I ordered a set of qualipieces adventure to try on my girlfriends sled at the Toronto show as well. I've heard good things about them.

They are built like a brick shit house, that's for sure. Very beefy.

 

I have always run a 7.5" shaper bar with bergstrom ski savers and woodys navigators on the prosteer skis. You can get away with 6" shaper bars but definitely get the ski savers and navigators. AND dont forget the shim the rubbers. If not the front of the prosteer will wear faster than the rest.

 

Just making sure. When you say Shaper bars you mean the Stud Boy ones?

I just replace my triple points that had nearly 5,000mi on them.
The carbides on the road side had several missing chunks, but mostly real happy with the wear. Right side all 3 rows of carbide was forming a block, just like Bergstrom advertised.
I like turning, turning is good.

 

I got pretty good miles on the singles 2016-20 I had them on. Put shaper bars on in 21 and surprised how good they are holding up. Try the 8in Good n Uglys, you'll be surprised vs the triples. 21 i did get a shitty set from them, 2 sleds they were gone in 1200mi They blamed covid

 

I ran the 8" ace on my SBA with stock pro steers. Was a great ride honestly, the tight stuff can lead to being a little grabby but you can manage it. Was thinking of going ether maverick or the executive bar this year. Wanna try a long round bar and see if i get the grabby feeling or not. I do like the aspect of having keel protection though.

 

Is the pro steer worth invest into? I was going to get Grippers with 8-9 single carbides. Im a very aggresive rider in the corners, i hate push!! I dont mind heavier steering. I always got C&A or SLP mohawk skis before, now im trying to not spend 1K on skis, since i dont even know if there wil be snow! I always had SBA, with the 1.6 cobra Now i have an Indy xc 129 1.5 ice storm with Igrips.

 

Get the Grippers, hard to beat for the money. I never liked the Prosteers on loose or new powder, the grippers took care of that, 8 inch bars with Navigators, turned great and very little darting.

 

The pro steers to me weren't all that bad with 8" ace bars. To me it didn't push all that much, i did notice that it would catch every now and then mid corner and flip the inside ski up. Now that can come down to some suspension changes and terrain as well. But if drag the front brake or keep pressure on the front the pro steer wasn't to bad. I tend to get my knee outside of the plastic and chest almost to bars. My style i like ski lift and wheelie out, but to be honest the assault to me is more of a point and shoot kind of ride.
