What symptoms would one experience as a result of having cracks in these carb boots....with potential to suck in air. I have worn cracks in them but they don't seem to be through the rubber all the way. Any comments?

His cracks are in the air box boot, not the engine side. Not much to worry about IMO but it would be kinda nice to have them replaced.

It _is_ the engine side Mark...as well as the air box side.

Thanks for the replies by the way....but I as hoping to find out what I should watch for that may be an indicator that there is an air leak due to cracks. I had a closer look, they don't look that bad...but I may play it safe than be sorry and get them replaced.

Typically, if your intake boots are cracked through, the sled will idle erratically; most obviously will idle high, especially if its a fuelie.

Best bet would be just to replace them. Even if they are not cracked through yet, they will be before too long.

I have had to change mine twice in 7 years.
