the jag that we have got around 12 on the first tank, which is always bad but i will let you know after this weekend. It only has about 115mi on it. My ST got just over 12 on the first tank but it gets like 16-18 now so that would have to be my guess.

Doesn't make much sence to slap a small tank on just to save a little weight. The T-660 weighed 575lb, and had a 12gal tank. Turbo touring was 640 13 gal.

You dont need extra fuel when you can get 18-20 mpg. Bigger tank equils more weight when fully fueled. You will get 150 miles to a tank on this sled I will bet. Not many sleds can go further than that. I never go beyond 100 or so before I fill up. Never had a problem finding gas along the trails here in Minnesota or in the U.P.
Gas stops are far and few between here in Maine. In northern Maine and Quebec you really have to plan your gas stops. Sometimes you make it to the first station on fumes.

Maybe be so, but the more driving range the better,, I would Imagine the T660 was getting atleast the same milage with the bigger tank, It should be good for over 200. Cat hasn't used that small of a tank in 10 years, seems like they cut some corners just to keep the weight down, and if the scales are correct, it looks like it's 30lb's lighter than was first thought,, with 2 gals of fuel in the tank.
Im am guesing the tank is smaller than the 2 strokes to make room for the throttle bodies that are located on the back of the head. also room is needed for an air intake to feed them. on the 2 strokes the head is 1.5 inches tall on 4 stroke it would be 4-5 plus throttle bodies all aimed at the top of the fuel tank.
Well we rode a new Jag today it had 0 miles, very sticky snow and 2 Firecats F7 EFI.... We all switch sleds so everything was equal.

If they were concerned about weight, they would have put a two stroke in it. Putting in a smaller tank to same weight doesn't make sense.
Dealer said he was getting 18MPG while trail riding at 50-60 MPH. 18 MPG is nice, but I wonder what it would get if I was driving it? :dunno:

Less stops equals more miles plus with more fuel you can go to more remote spots. There are area's I ride in fuel stops are 120+ miles apart, and say your busting 12" of fresh on top of the trail, fuel goes fast give me the larger tank.

Are you sure, with the 12gal tank and getting 12 mpg= 144 miles,,, 9 gal getting 18mpg =162 miles,, seems like they might need to fill also. It will go the distance cheeper but not much more range.
I've brought this up before, if you ride that hard it won't get any better mileage than the F series, I've talked to two dealers & they agree & say that they've voiced that concern to cat. I have an 06 XFire & the wife has a Sabercat, sometimes I'm on fumes when we fuel up because of my smaller tank. Yes, if you putt It's fine, making the tanks smaller I won't buy one. I can't imagine trying to deal with the XFire 1000.
That is why I like my 13gal tank :div20:

I just got back from riding this weekend. the jags' ride and handling is amazing!! its hard to campare to anythign because its like nothing else. on the softest setting i only bottomed it out once (230lbs) and we had a 280lbs guys riding it as well. across 1st connecticut lake i got 104mph on gps and i only pulled 110mph on my F7. it doesnt feel fast but its really not too slow. It ran away from my mothers T660 turbo after 70mph.
When we fuled up the jag it got 13.7 mpg and that was with a 280lbs rider doing most of the riding in sticky snow. Also, the sled still has less than 300mi. on it...
