I've read about the 03 F7s in several different places. I've also read good things about the '02 XCSP 700, though apparently not to the level of the F7s. Just got my 02 XCSP last year and haven't had a chance to line up with more than a few buds that I was able to smoke, but probably not a fair race (my track is studded and I was the only 700 in the group).

Was there a best year for the XCRs? What about any Doos or Yamahas? Maybe some 600s that would take the rest to school, at least off the line, if not top end?

Out of the crate, who is/was the one to beat?

:beer_cheers:

The 03 F7 holds about all the speed records. Drag and top speed it's still the sled to beat.

SRX is fast on top yes. No faster than a properly prepped F7. 02 XC7 is respectible also. 600 XC's were very quick and fast in the 98-02 range compared to the competition. 98 thundercat is probably the fastest production sled ever built...box stock. Still probably is.

Bottom line any sanctioned event or record keeping entity has one 700 on top though. Heck F7's hold some 800 class records. True not all trail F7's are world beaters. Any F7 prepped for stock racing is fast.

I lined up with a f-7 on a lake and i got smoke. But my sled was running like crap, and i had a horrible belt at the time. Plus i was missing a bearing, and my power valves were gummed up. it was when i first got my sled. I think now that i got my sled tuned in it should be a good race.

Interesting, but why is it that my cousins' and bother in laws SRX's beat every f-7 they raced, probably 10 of them???? the SRX's were all stock other then studs and reeds and can.

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the SRX still hold one of the records? Don't forget the SRX also gives fits to the bigger sleds too!

The 01 srx hands down....0-60, top end, you name it,the srx excells in every catogory. Truly amazing machines,i got an 02 and ive ran alot of big iron, Zr900's,machs,XCR 800's, and none of them can ever seem to get the edge on me. Im not saying this cuz im a yammi man,but my buddys i ride with got a few F'7s,and i would take the suspension on those things anyday over my yammi, but when the flag drops, the yammi lives on!!

Yeah, need chisels to run on ice... ran snow last year. with 192 1" on a stock track, this year 192 1.175" on a 1" hacksaw, 48 doubles all with tall nuts.... hooks hard, still working on transfer issues however with the new skid

I impressed and upset alot of people with my 01 SRX. I didn't lose many races.
I wish I still had it to compare to my new 800R MXZX, which pulls hard to 100.
I will always fondly remember that sweet triple, but I don't miss the ride or weight.

Since we all know the F7 is hands down quicker than the SRX in 500', I guess I'll provide a link that shows the F7 is also faster in mph in 1000'. Only close to 3 mph faster....no biggy. Nothing touches the Thundercat though. Read the rules of this series. Pretty strict stuff.

I'm not super in touch with what a SRX can do for top speed stock, but I know there are ISR stock F7's that have run 130.

Cool have you raced 660 against a well tuned srx first hand? blab on all you want when it comes down to it first hand experience overules internet bullshit.

Second of all those records dont mean much, MPH is one thing and ET is another you may cross the line at a greater MPH but you still could be behind the adjacent sled.... Prime example is a 1998 T cat has the faster 1/4 mile speed at 108.75, while the ET was Greater then that of the SRX with a MPH of just over 100......

There's a drag race near me on Feb 9th that has classes for trail studs. Bring that SRX over here and run it. I ran it last year and took a first in the 800 stock/trail stud class. This is a low dollar/high fun race. All you have to do is get a good holeshot and you'll do good.

I'm not saying my F7 is anything special. On snow though no stock SRX is going to touch it.

Regarding ET.....how many SRX's have beat F7's at Haydays? Yup zero. All ET there. No 550# SRX is going to out ET a 460# F7.

Your trail sled on ice vs. my trail sled on ice you may win sure. Not saying F7's are unbeatable. ISR stock vs. ISR stock lowered for 660 SRX isn't going to win.

i just can't believe how fast people think f7's are.....they are turds...and i owned 3 good running f7's....i have seen srx's run with f7s all day long....f7's=most over-rated sled of all time...lot's of fun, quick and capable of carving real hard when dialed in but that's it...

Yeah some people just cant step off there high horse, ill admit ive won alot but also lost some against F7s, some guys with F7s are simply living in denial, cause hey they cant lose right? its impossible

I`ll be the 1st to admit i have been at the loosing end to a few F7`s! But i would have to say i`ve beat alot more than i`ve lost to. Usually the ones i have lost to have had quite alot of $ put into them. Stock vs stock i would give the nod to the srx. And i`m not talking sleds set up for drag racing...sleds set up for real world riding. Just my 2 cents.
