103 MPH on a Field

this was the post that i posted up lat year.

i saw 108 mph last week on lake gogebic. totally stock. oil pumping at 48:1, stock belt, my 240 pound suited up ass running it, rpms were still a bit high at around 8100. this might sound stupid but i think i could have gotten 1 or 2 more if i had moved my seat down. i was having trouble ducking under the wind. i am fairly tall and if i had put the seat down i could have been a little tighter to the sled.

Bro had his bumping around 100 and touching 104 in good conditions. We didn't head out on the lake last year. All stock except studs.

I had to quote your post because I initially thought it was last week. :beer_cheers: Man, I must be fighting a hangover. It's November. Early November.

My dad's F8 top speed that the hit last year was 108 mph. I hope that they have some more top end this year.

My old 04 F6 Sno Pro EFI which is bone stock and it would go 109 mph on country back roads

Just bought 08 F8 Sno Pro so hopefully it will go little more than 109 we shall see

Had allot of early finicky problems with my bud's F8 last year. In the end he was able to shave a little off the edge of his track(not something easy to do, buy the 14") and pulled up the limiter a little and played with the spring in the centre shock a little. We also added two small wheels at the bend, speedwerx air box mod and y-pipe, and in his case a boondocker to fix the burble on the low end and middle. The clutching was changed to similar to what we ran in the 06 crossfire and xs belt. Ended up with a 48-44-40 with 66 gram big dogs and orange cat spring along with stock secondary spring and xs belt but it was late and not enough snow tio really get a good feel for snow. Once this was done it was far more consistent and would run 110 no problem and top out on ice at 114 right with all the F7's. The really good one that ran with us late last year had d&d poring, pipe, y-pipe and key along with air box mods and clutched pretty similar to this as well perhaps a gram less in the primary as it pulled rpms higher and it would pull 121 on ice and was bullet fast against all comers. This was a nasty sled. If it were geared better it would have been even faster. The 08's are geared better so it should be faster as well. Hope this helps.

you could easily gain 2 mph by getting your elbows in and head down. the usi ski's should easily gain you 2-3 mph on long pulls. if you watch a newer cat there stock skis will lift actually putting the nose of the ski in the air high enough that it is riding on the rear of the ski. ends up pushing lots of air.

I know this sounds unrealistic but my first time out last year, 2 miles on the odometer i hit 115 on glare ice. Could not reach anymore than 108 the rest of the year on hard pack. :postwhore2:
