They're doing extremely well. They're purchasing/purchased a used groomer & drag according to the VAST equipment list in the VAST NEWS. The 105 trail between Norton and Derby connection behind the old Earth People's Part now owned by VT ANR will be open. It sounded good up there with plenty of support from most of the Essex County Clubs! Kudos to them and VAST members!

I was talking to amanda and pidgeon last saturday and they told me that the trail was going to be open but they havent nailed down the exact route. A bridge needs to be built and they are trying to find a short crossing. Pidgeon said the landowner is cooperating and will allow a trail! She said they have a groomer too!:fistpump2: Drove around Silvio O Conte. Made it all the way to the lookout on trail 2000!

When you cross rt114 headed back towards derby you go over the train tracks then about 100 yards after that you go over a bridge just before where the log trucks turn off. The reroute will be south of there, closer to Norton pond, over the same stream. If anyone knows when when the bridge building party is post it on here! Pidgeon was talking about selling club memberships and t shirts and was worried they wouldn't get enough support. I have a feeling she's going to be very surprised once the season start! DT we put almost 40 miles on her Tahoe driving around the trails!

Amanda told us about the groomer and club info when we ate up there in July, sounds like they are off to a good start.

Please post the club info as far as work parties, membership, t shirts etc when it is available

Driving thru those roads in the Silvio Conte can be fun, as you know, there are lots of good dirt roads in there and you can put on lots of miles. I like to go in at the sign at stonedam (where the train tracks, river and 105 all meet) and make my way back toward IP and come out on the Henshaw rd(where brighton keeps the groomers)

OK, I called The pidgeon today and spoke with Amanda. I told her that there was alot of interest in helping to build the new bridge. I said she should post it on here as soon as she has a date to start, what they plan on getting done on day 1, day 2, etc. That way volunteers can see what day they would be most helpful on. She was really surprised when I told her how much support and interest there was in the new club! All we need now is snow!!:fluffy:
DT those miles might not count but they sure were sweet!

So who built the reroute to bypass Brousseau Mtn on Trail 105? They pushed the trail a little south around the base of the mountain. My father built that logging road they are using about 1963. It used to come out at Devost's land on Route 114 south of Norton Village (close to the Homeland Security train check). I'll miss Brousseau Mtn, been a trail over it as long as I can rember (1974).
