Help, please!

i have a 2024 khaos boost with 300 miles on it. Since pickup from dealer the clutch/track engagement happens at higher rpms. Tough to handle tree riding and other technical terrain. How do I fix? Change primary spring?

Yes. But, make sure that the clutch isn't sticking and that belt deflection is zero (tight at launch). Also, check belt side clearance at rest with engine off.
My 23 flat land Boost engages at around 3800-4000 rpm with .020" belt side clearance. What is yours?

Polaris reduced the width and length of the drivebelt in the MY24 Boost sleds. If you already have too much belt side clearance in the P-22 clutch plus a narrower and shorter belt, it can make for a harsh engagement.

thank you!

I checked the belt deflection and belt and it looks good - ribs partially above secondary and no glazing. I thought p22 automatically adjusts deflection?

Belt side clearance is a new concept for me. Recommendation for measuring with the p22 clutch for a novice?

i haven’t measured engagement RPM. Will this weekend, but my guess is it’s above 4000.

fyi, our trails start at 8000 feet and we ride trees/meadows between 9000 and 10500.

we ride between 9000 and 10500 feet in Utah.

my weights are stock but supposedly the dealer adjusts for elevation with weights - line item in purchase order. I’ll check which weights are in there. I also have an 850 khaos and a 9R pro to compare it to.

What you’re saying about springs jives with what I’m reading on older forums. Wasn’t sure if it changed with later models. Easy to swap to a lower spring.

Many Boosts are co
First, yes the P-22 is supposed to maintain zero belt deflection. But you need to confirm that.

Secondly, belt side clearance is very important because it affects how far the weights must swing until the belt engages and the sled starts to move.
Many Boosts are coming from the factory with very tight side clearance. This causes poor belt grip and low upshifting force.
It also tends to increase rpm. I doubt that this is your problem. You check for this with feeler gauges placed along side of the belt at the bottom of the clutch before clutch closes.

The P-22 clutch isn't very easy to change side clearance compared to the P-85.
I appreciate you taking the time to educate me on belt side clearance. I'm new to sled mechanics but I do like digging in and understanding/working on my own sled. Steep learning curve with just clutching and suspension. Even if belt side deflection is not my issue, I'd like to rule it out. I'm also going to check the weights and spring. I'll keep you posted.

Have a trip up to Wyoming next week and would like to get it dialed before.

What rpm does engagement occur at?

Consider moving this discussion to the Boost sub-forum of the Matryx forum. Lots of tuning experience there.
