i guess if the walls are not damaged you could just put the pistons in , just make you dont have to much piston to wall clearance

 

Same as any other sled you mentioned. Cylinders are fine, if not damaged. Muratic acid and scotch bright, or a hone, can help hide minor damage if need be

 

I heard that they have nikasel walls, and if they get hot and size the piston, the wall is no good. Idk tho

 

as stated above, use acid to remove aluminum naskil is pretty hard,

Gm, been so busy last few days. Got the piston changed and the wall is good yet. Runs when play with the throttle and drives ok, but starves for gas and shuts off if not holding the throttle. Need new fuel pump and carbs, I believe.

 

Mag side, on the head, the nut came loose and blew the aluminum head gasket. Twice. What gives? Never had problem with the nuts coming loose and blowing the head gasket before. Luckily the pistons, ring and cylinder walls are still good. Just need to vent. Also, gas leaked out by the gauge, and my daughter got soaked in gas. Never dealt something like this before. Oh well, the price we gotta pay for having toys hey?

This will fix the gas leak.

23 year old toy though to. I’d never seen that on a 570 back in the day.

Idk, never had gas leak problems, having to change pistons and head gaskets after every race. Kind of annoying having to work on a machine all week. Even my son, who has 2 Cat 570s, had to change 3 or 4 pistons and the crank went on one of his 570s. 😠

 

I ported one if those back in the day. Raised compression. Enlarged and raised exhaust port all the way out to the manifold, matched manifold and intake. Dyno tuned.
it was fast.
I know if one more recently that was 10 Hp more than mine.
i never had a problem, guy with the hotter one didn’t either as far as I know.
(add about 10 Hp to whatever your thinking)

 

I did use to replace those fuel gauges every so often on that series tank. Hair dryer, wd40 and a flat blade screwdriver. Few minute fix.
