Cant tell you any thing about the motor but since you rode one its a step up from your jag. The handling on the trail isnt as good as the 02 and eariler mt. cats but the performance in the snow is way better it dosnt trench as bad and it just a better over all sled for the mts than the eariler models

 

the 570 has pretty good low end, but lacks top end. my suggestion is to get the 1M 500 or 600. for a little more dough, you get alot more go!.......my friend has the 04 570, nice lookin sled......

 

all i likes to do is go in deep powder im only on the trails for a bit then where out on some clearing or climbing hills and boondocking :div20:

 

For your riding (mountains and boondocking) I would agree going with the 600. If your on a budget keep an eye out for a new 02 or 03. I know one area dealer has an 02 1M 600 for under 5000. Great deal for a new sled that's nearly identical to the 03-04's. Thirty percent more power= twice as much fun :luxhello:

For a mountain sled, I would consider the 570 for myself as well. I'm not a speedster, and mountain sleds aren't made for speed anyway, IMO. You want the low-end power, and I'm sure this has it :div20:

 

The 02 mountains are heavy compared to the new 1Ms, the 04 Mountain Cat 570 1m is 25 pounds lighter then the 02 Mountain Cat 570

 

there are really no mountains here, there is a hill, hodges. that's why im saying get a z or something like that......

 

i owned a 2002 mc 500 liquid and rode with a 570 mc fan..they both were good in the powder....but flat out on a trail or whatever the 570 had no nut compared to that liquid....ifi were you id go with the 02 500 or 04 600 :ylsuper:

 

i have an 02 standard 570, and i wish i wouldve got the mountain cat. Even on the trails the 136 track would be better and all the components are much better.(shocks, deep lug track, adjustable stuff, high bars, skis etc.) The 570 has good power for a fan, lifts the skis with the best with studs in it. :div20:

 

Wouldnt a 2" lug of a 04 Mountain cat 600 EFI be to much for where i live thats why im considering the 570 with a 1.4 lug

 

yeah, a 2 would be way too much. im putting a 1.25 ripsaw on my sled next year. like I said, the 1M is a sweet machine, but for around our parts I think you would be happier with the z570. you can always upgrade the little things after, like shocks and stuff to make it a trail burner. It's always up to whoever is spending the dough however, I don't think you can loose with either.....If the 570 is anything like my old 86 cougar 500, it's a sweet engine for low end. the top obviously drops off but bottom has lots.!

 

yeah the Z570's are nice machines, theres one at Thruway Recreation here at gfw and there was a Mountain Cat 570 there both 04's, now the 1M 570 is out back cuz they put a 04 Pro X2 800 out and a z370 so they put the 1M 570 out back for room

 

We were doing some hill climbing today, and I would have to say the power of a liquid help out when going vertical though deep powder. We don't have any mountains here but we found an old mining hole about 10/12 stories deep. It was awesome. Having power has its times. A friend and I both have 136" track with 2" lugs(MC 600 EFI & REV X 600 SDI) and we float nicely on the powder and tear up & down the trails pretty good. I personal like the hook up of the 2 inch lugs. It's makes for some nice cat walks.

 

i rode a 570 for a few miles last winter and it had pretty good power considering what it was...seems like it would be a good sled to trail ride. IMO

 

I am looking for a second sled for my wife and son. I got a good deal on my 600 MC, and was thinking about the 570MC or 550 RMK. I guess what the dealers offers will help me decide.

 

powder nut, is that the one behind the lake with the power station on it? When I was in da knife, I used to walk over there and watch a bunch of people on their sleds, my sled was back here in newfoundland. I can remember a sno pro 440, and someone driving around with 2 98 zr's on the flatbed of their truck. they were around alot. I used to work for bayly williams, and elaine keenan bengts law offices up there......

 

i dont think my dad would be able to afford a 04 600 1M cuz we just bought 2 new Honda dirt bikes this summer, and last year we bought a Fifth Wheel Camper 28 footer. With the Price of the 04 570 1M its affordable i was goin to sell my jag for a 2000 or something like that and put it as a down payment for a 04 570 1M it would have around a 100 monthly payment now thats pretty good! :fluffy:

 

Newf, It was taken at Jennijon Lake on the other side of Dhetta. There are soo many sleds and sledders here it's hard to tell who's who. With so many riders here it's gets harder and harder to find the fresh stuff. You have to go farther. The trails get nicer about 40-50 ks outta town. I work for CBC up here as a cameraman. It's cold this weekend -5o with the wind. Did stop me though. They lake your talking about still has open water by the powerplant.
