I agree. I rode the sx that Zr 580 is referring to and it is a slug. it has a good fit and finish, but its motor is not up to par.

i hate to admit it but ,the polaris 600 is very stout
you will have to do a little tuning on your 580
but that 580 motor does has potential ^_^

i beat 2 XC's 600 with my 97 ZR 580. One was a 2000, the other a 2001. The guys couldn't believe it. Pure Arctic Cat (suzuki  ) POWER, what did they expect???

My buddy has an 02 xc edge with the 1.25 track and it will run DEAD even with my 01 800 ZR up to 60-75. Both stock. Those polari 600's are quick....until the F6 came along!!!! HA HA HA.

I had a 98xc and a riding partner had a 97 zr580. Smoked him every single time. Could probably have given him a 5 length head start and still smoke em'. Good luck!

You know, we used to have a couple of '98 EXT 580's, they were always consistantly faster than the '98 ZR 600's that we had. I mean, not even close, seemed like the EXT's chassis's had so much less rolling resistance. Plus, I believe that 98 was when they put the Triple Port exhaust on the 580 motor, may have woken it up a little???

Anyway, I'm done rambling, take it for what its worth.

The tripple exhaust port motor was introduced in the 94 ZR 580. They moved those cylinders to the EXT later and used the 38mm carbs, not the 40's from the ZR.

You don't have a chance..sorry to tell you.
On pure ice a xc600 ran dead nuts w/ my f7 up til 60 mph...at that point I was all hooked up and blowing by him..but I changed my studs around now so it wont happen again ^_^

btw--I had a zl600efi and my buddies xc600 beat it pretty easy..and his xc stock ran dead even w/ a viper toa bout 85 mph on hardpack.

I'll hand it to polaris--they have the strongest 600 until the f6

The XC 600 beat me but not by much probly like 50 feet after a like 2/3 - 1 mile pond it was way closer than i thought hey if it kept up with ypu F-7 in the start than you got problems because i smoked the XC 600 out of the start with my Zr 580
