I've heard this word tossed around before and think my sled might be having this problem. When I got my new driveshaft, I showed the seller my old one and he noticed the sprockets were worn at the top. Does this indicate ratcheting? When I run my track on a stand and throttle it back down I do hear what sounds like a ratchet. My track tension and chain deflection are set correctly.

Its when the sprocket on the driveshaft slips over the drive lugs on the track. Common on powder/hi HP sleds. Also if you run your track too loose!
I mostly notice it when I am heavy into the throttle, track spins then hooks up. You can hear it and feel it. Tighten the track a little bit at a time until it stops.
You'd have to be pretty clueless to install a track with wrong pitch for the drivers without noticing somethings wrong 
youll be shocked ppl buy tracks all thetime without not knowing what pitch they need
a few years ago i bought a brand new 1 1/4 144 ripsaw at a swapmeet guy bought it for his sled told me it was the wrong pitch lol offerd him a 100$ and he said sold dumbass
