Why not just buy a temp-a-flow. Its basically the same thing as what Ski-Doo used in thier sleds (DPM), From what I've heard you jet it for the coldest temperature you would ride in and it adjusts up from there...

Lets just leave it as it would cost your parents a lot of money.

O come on! The kid asked a question. Dont start that parent shit again. If you were kidding with him, note it. If not I think I speak for everyone when I say...

Its a great question. I bought an 05 sabercat 500 for my daughter at the end of last season and I would love to update it to EFI. The Carb 500 is very hard to warm up in cold weather. Its got the same cooling system as an F7 with a little 500cc motor and it takes 20-25 minutes to warm that sled up and it fouls plugs if you get impatient and try to ride it before its good and warm.

I think it can be done, but not with any factory parts out of the book. You will probobly have to use some after market-programable box and have a little bit of knowledge to set it up. Not to mention a little bit of coin.

Just my opinion.

Its probably way to expensive to buy the parts new. probably will wait until mid or end of this season and just buy a complete 06 500 EFI motor from a salvage shop. My guess is it would be easier and cheaper to just drop the new motor in but than you would need the ECU for the EFI. Its getting expensive the more I think about it. You would have to find a really good deal for it to be worth it.

There is no easy or affordable way to get an F5 efi. it would be much cheaper to go to an F6 efi, than just get the parts needed for conversion. The sabercat 5 can be updated using all the electronics and wiring off an 06, but the lower out non valved stuff wont work on the F5.

My problem is I dont want my kid to have the power valve 500. That saber 500 is really quick without the valves and she would be over her head with 105 HP. The saber 500 is less common than the F5 so I will just have to wait and see if anything falls out of the sky. Worst case I have to warm up the sled really good before she rides.
