Lets get Arctic Cat to offer us a reverse only option this spring :D electric start is a useless weight gain on such easy to start sleds such as the BEFI units, I won't even get into durability issue of ES

I can't beleive it either, to me if you want reverse you should be able to get it factory installed.

I will never get reverse so long as I have a choice or my legs/back give out. IMO reverse is as much unwanted weight as electric start  ...

The problem is my back, I am so sick of pulling those sleds off my trailer. I'm only 31 but I guess the days of hard ridin' are cathing up with me :) To me the reverse is way more practical than electric start, and I believe the kit is not all that much extra weight, probaly less than a gallon of gas.

I agree.I have suffered a lot of major back strains . I have been framing houses for 20 years , and its murder on your back among other things. I'm 41 years old and I will never own another sled without reverse.
I'm getting to old to be tugging and pulling on sleds any more. Its also very convienent for my wife. And I also like the fact of using it with trailer loading and unloading . When I was younger I had kungfutu "s
outlook, But good old father time has peruaded me differently!!
To each their own Jim !!

Hey, I used to feel the same way you do till I turned age 37 :D in 97 it's great to have reverse when your touring which is the kind of riding I do, I like to save myself for the ride. Hey Rob what's your opinion on this reverse only option?

I'll never buy anything that adds more weight. Put on the same system as Ski-Doo and I'll buy it for sure

Cat needs electronic reverse. No added weight, less hassel, and push a button its the way to go.
I agree we should have electronic reverse, but until Cat offers it I feel they should offer factory instsalled reverse on the Firecats.

Just order a standard and have the dealer put the reverse in. I have done this with my EXT 600TT. I wish sometimes I had gotten es also. Some of us greybeards have rotor cuff and back issues. Just the sight of a pull cord or a rear bumper makes us cringe.(especially at 6am and 20 below). You can easily identify us because our rear flap looks like the lone surviver of a cat fight and we're white knuckled at 80 mph while some of you guys are growling because we're in the way. 30 or 40 years of jumping - trails with 3' moguls with 3" suspension travel (if you had a cat - 0" if you didn't) for miles and miles, and incidents of inverted travel (sled on top rider underneath) adds up over time.

I do think Cat should offer a choice from the factory but sometimes you can beat on your dealer and get a deal on some of the extras. It sounds like skis may also be an issue. I traded the steel skis on my EXT for plastics when it came in. He had to install the skis anyway so I paid him a little more to put on plastics instead. For a little more I could have ordered a ZRT but I hated the graphics so I installed the plastics and fox's on the EXT. I shafted myself because I lost out on the TSL and roller clutch which they threw on the ZRT at the last minuite and didn't tell us about when we .checked. Oh well.

Where there is a will there is a way.

#1 read greycat's post #2 I tour ride and am hardly ever in the same town for 2 consecutive nights and I am normally parking the sled in front of our room at some motel or hotel in No. Ontario or Quebec, usually between a couple of cars. Plus I would rather save my back for the ride and what does reverse really add in weight 5 lbs., hell my saddlebags weigh at least 15 lbs. and if I'm carrying extra fuel thats about 7lb. a gallon. And the truth is the weight reverse adds is not going to make you any slower, that weight issue is just Bullshit the snow rags like to talk about.

I think the snowmobile companies should trade technology such as AC EFI for Bomb. Electronic Reverse. If they spent less time and money suing each other and took a look at us, the consumer, the end result would be we are the winners. As far as factory installed reverse without the ES option I agree it should and could be done at the factory. They could use the difference in price from US vs. Canada and install reverse on everything at the factory. When you buy a car do you have to have reverse installed at the dealers. I don't think so. The difference in price installed at the factory would be half or less of what it is at the dealer. AC, are you reading????? My nickels worth!
