jet -5 to 20 degrees with porting slp suggests 560 and 3.5 on the needle this seems to be fat to me for 0-2000'. compared to there single jetting specs.which were well off. this is for a 04 800 clutching going with the button any tips for 1000' runs.
your right its seams to rich to me also...... even though fuel is expensive its still way cheaper then a melt down ! I would get a handfull of jets ranging from 540- 470 and figure on wasting a whole day tuneing the sled! by the end of the day you will have 3~4 jets sizes known to be to rich but you will still be running. Pockets may have some idea where you should start. are you running a EGT gauge? I found it to be a very usefull tool in tuneing!
i did there performance edition package on my 03 800 and i ran a 510n which is equivalient to a 540 if it was cold out that was fine but if it was warm out i was a 500 i had egts and the temp was fine except for 1/4 to 1/2 throttle was lean.
