Track repair for partial pull out

Is there any way to repair a track where a stud started to pull through? I have studs outside the windows (I know, starting to wonder why I bought this one) and one has started to pull through. I plan on cutting it out tomorrow as I couldn't back it out tonight and didn't feel like getting into it. Once the stud is out is there any way to patch the hole? I've seen that I should burn the frayed fibers, but I'd like to put something on it to keep it from catching on stuff. Is there anything out there?

Thanks in advance,
E

Nvr seen any effective way. Water under bridge now. But on a trail sled for control and braking I only put them in middle .for drag racing and performance 1st I do outside close to rail for downward pressure. But I know the longevity is gonna suffer. I've run tracks with a shit load missing from the inside for tons of miles. But once they tear the outer band out it's pretty much curtains

Not a lot you can do once theres a pull thru other than whats been said or put up with it till the track shits the bed. The option is to replace it. I mainly stud the middle belt for a trail sled, it improves safety. When you stud the outer belts, theres more pressure on the studs, so you just have to accept what might happen.

I've never studded outside the windows before. I bought this sled for my son last year against my own better judgement based on availability at the time that I wanted to buy. I've regretted it since. I guess I'll remove the tear out, then start looking for a used track for it..

Thanks,
E

You’re not alone. I inspected my track before loading my sled on the trailer & found a tear out too. First time I’ve ever experienced that & it concerns me. I think I might know what happened (or at least I hope so). These stud star backers are supposed to be installed with soapy water & I forgot to do that on my very first stud. It tightened down “tough” so I’m wondering if I didn’t get a bit of a cookie cutter effect. Not much I can do now other than keep an eye on it :wall:

I was honestly looking for a cheap and dirty fix. If I have to pull the track and pay to have it fixed I'll probably just replace it. I found a pre loved hacksaw that I may go grab this week. Unfortunately that'll mean new studs, but it is what it is. The tear out track is probably original and the sled is an 04 so...

Get a single player stud
Push it through and put the backer and nut down.
Mark a bit higher than the nut
Cut the stud at the mark and put it back together to make sure it fits
Pull it apart
Put 3m 8693 in the stud hole on inside of track
Push the stud back in and the 8693 will squish out a bit
Torque down to a bit less than the recommended torque
Wipe away the squished out adhesive.

The glue should fill in the gaps and the provide a good strong joint and the cut down stud shouldnt grab as much.

I used the 404 and primer on a torn lug. Wouldnt use it it on a pull out as you need some gap filling properties.
