There was alot of talk on here before we got bounced around from server to server about track clearance in the front of the tunnel on the sides. Now that we have more guests I would like to mention it again. How many have little or no clearance at the front of the tunnel on one side where the track meets it. For those that have already looked where you able to adjust it out with track alignment or was it a driver issue that was not fixable unless the drivers were repressed on. I have played with a few now but just wanted to get everyone elses feedback. The clearance in there is tight even when perfectly straight and track alignment is almost impossible to tell from idler wheel postion as the clearance in the lugs is also very tight.
I noticed mine was closer on the throttle side than it is on the other. It seems like the skid wants to vear towards the same side. Makes me a little nervous, but what can be done. there's no adjustment for the skid. <_<
Speaking of clearance, I can't recall if anyone mentioned this in an earlier post but the plastic rivets holding the rear tunnel reflectors on are rubbing on your track. There is double sided tape also holding them on, I cut the rivets from inside the tunnel and the reflectors haven’t come off in 400 miles.
Good point on clearance to the reflector rivits...the track will knock these off over time. I lost one and another FC lost one also. Anyone else notice threads showing on the outside of the track?
When you're installing the saddle/trunk/map bags you may want to install the rivets from the inside of the tunnel so they don't rub the track. Check out Rob's instructions in Firecat Tips and How-tos
Track was aligned after 3 miles of use. Got it to run true then tightened bolts. Alignment was off from the factory. I dont understand how the rear of the track can stay centered while cornering.
looked at mine seemed out of align put on stand spun track and now looks out the other way?
tension is good, plastic rivets gone on left side of mine, oh-well just ride it!!
Rob, how tight are you running the tension on your track? Mine is probably slightly out of spec. Think that this would cause the track to walk to one side when cornering?
