I have a 2004 600 ho rev which idles poorly, starts hard and stalls when put into reverse. I did a compression test today and have 105 on the clutch side and 120 on the other. I have heard talk about the 03-04 rings being bad from the factory and wondering which rebuild kit is the best to use. The sled has 2500 miles on it. Also, is there anything else I should do while it is apart?? Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

If you are going to take the time to do the rings, you should also replace the pistons. Do the complete top end and be done with it for a long time. Be sure to check the cylinders for any nicks or gouges. Slight ones can be honed out but if they are too deep you will need to replace the cylinder. Most importantly, make sure to do a thorough job of checking the condition of your RAV valves, reeds, intake boots, y-pipe and anything else you can get a good look at while you are in there. This is the time to catch any minor issues and take care of them before they become MAJOR issues.

I am doing the top end on my 04 600 SDI as we speak. I went with aftermarket piston kits from SPI which included the rings and circlips, new caged bearings and a Winderosa top end gasket kit. The parts cost me less than half of what OEM BRP parts cost and will be just as good, if not better.

Take the time to do it right and you'll end up with a nice reliable sled when you're done!
Good luck and ask questions if you get stuck!
