Hey everybody, just looking for some feedback on something that's been eating at me for awhile, and even more so now that winter is approaching.

I have an 04 Pro X 600 with 3000 miles on it. My question is, would any of you keep this sled and put the 660 into it, or instead, purchase a 600HO Fusion and put the 660 into it.

Just looking for some thoughts on this.

thanks

That depends. Do you like the ride/handling of your ProX? The HO will handle better and have much less feedback through the bars. It is valved softer than the ProX though so you'll bottom more, but ride better in the stutters.

If you've got the money, get the HO. Otherwise, get a 660 and stick it in your ProX for this year, then stick it in a HO next year. Remember though, this may be your last year to get a carbed 600...

Thanks for the input. You don't think the carbed 600 will be around next year?, i'm not super up to date on the coming changes so that is good to know.

I do love the Pro X, it beats me up a little in the stutters, but i for sure don't have it set up perfect, it's set up to ride it, and for the most part I have no gripes so that's why I don't bother trying to change anything.

You guys are definetly providing me with something to think about.

I heard from a polaris rep that the new 600HO is a one year deal since it doesn't meet the EPA emissions or something like that so they will probably put the efi injection system in it so it will meet them. Thats what I heard from a polaris rep thats why my dad got one this year. I would stay with the pro x and put the 660 kit in it and the 660 kit for your engine will not work on the new 600 HO engine. They are around 1,500 more. A 660 kit has been proven to stay with 800s and smoke them on top end.

The 660 cylinders of years past WILL fit the new case. Minor porting changes might be required, but they'll work fine.

660~685 with a long track kit! you would be amazed how just a few more inches on the ground smooths whoop sections out! fist full of power to pull the skis up and hold on! :Wow1:

Carls or indyhead , I heard good things about both! Last time I read a post from Indy head he said he is backed up in the shop..... Maybe he is really busy and CARLS would have it on the shelf. I would ask both of them how long to get it in your hands!

Hey Racinfarmer,
Yeah, I got my kit from Carl's, works great. And a 136" Ripsaw track works wonders underneath. Getting a set of slp twins this fall for it too for that extra whoomp!
Braaap, the 660 kit from Carl's will fit on the '06 :homework: , sorry kid. I love my Pro-X, even it's an '02. My mom even prefers it over her 600 xcsp so I am probably selling hers and letting her use my Pro-X.
If I were to get an '06 600 H.O. it would be the SB version, or the RMK, I like the longer tracks that much more. But most likely I have an '04 700 Pro-X2 lined up and I'll put a 136" track on it also.

I just sent my top end into Carl's to get it bored out to a 660. I thought about 685 but it just wasn't worth the extra work. I will have my top end back around mid to late Oct. I wanted to go with Indyhead's kit but he was so backed up he wasn't taken on any more work. Carl's builds quality stuff and is proven, so you can't go wrong with them. I'm dropping it into a 04 Pro XR with SLP twins stretched to a 136 ripsaw. When i'm done with this sled it should rip and i'll have it just the way I want. I would say just keep your Pro X and build it up the way you want, instead of dropping cash a new sled. The Pro X is a proven sled and it will take a beating.

I won't recommend Indyhead (Rob W) until I get my 660 top-end back. He's had it since the end of March. Yes, March. :banghead:

Its great workmanship, but the wait this summer has been ridiculous. I can't sell the sled if I wanted to, since it has no motor. I can't grass-drag the sled, since it has no motor. I can't even start it up and annoy the neighbors. Closest I can come to it is if I place my 1.5yr old son in the bulkhead and have him make some bpbpbpbpbpbpbp noises. Its not directly Rob's fault - he doesn't do the work himself. Its his engine builder, Jim, and his motivation being somewhere between poor and non-existent. Rob is as frustrated as I am over the whole thing.

Did you watch a lot of The Fast and the Furious, by chance? Its nitrous. N.O.S. (not pronounced NAWS) is a brand name...but yes you can still run nitrous in a 660.
