O.k. Here's the deal. My local dealer has two leftover 05's. Priced at $6995. I talked and talked and could only get them to go $6500. I know that the Fusion had a few different recalls and they dealer said they have all been addressed. I just wanted opinions on the sled. For just about the same money I could step into a 06' 600. What do you think??? Also, What exactly were the recalls.
Thanks

P.S. It's a standard Fusion, not a RMK.

Only way I'd get it would be if I were building a project sled. Buy one, drop in the SLP can and pipe, a 144" skid, 2" paddle track, RMK arms... In other words... no I wouldn't buy one.

I would look at it this way. I am a happy '05 Fusion owner who will admit to many trips back and forth to the dealer. At this point I've had many updates and have yet to bring my sled home dissatisfied. At this point If I were you I would look at what your getting for your dollar. Your getting a new sled that, however a first year sled, has been under the microscope for over a year now. Issues include belt wear, vibration, and the possibilty of snow injestion. The vibration is something that I have lived with and is really not an issue with me. My sled does start hard in extreme cold but never more than 4 real pulls. For $6,500 you are $2,400 less than what I paid. For that money you could purchase a set of Simmons skis, 168 Woody's picks, V-Force 3 Reeds, and electric start and still have gas money. Weigh that with the idea of buying this years sled with updated engine, 3hp, new skis, and a better clutch alignment which is unproven and judge for yourself. :dunno:

My dad just bought a left over 05. He got it for 6488. He was going to get the 600ho but we found out all the updates were done to the 900 and it was a great price! All the updates include: Fuel line clamp, drive shaft replacement, handlebar wiring harness, spindle inspection/repacement, IQ fuel system update, they also did a ECU reflash, and put a touque stop update kit. I noticed no vibration. I think my dad made a good choice, the price was good so he got one! Many people say stay away but i'd go for it!

Here's my opinion from someone who experienced total Hell last year from my 05 Fusion. I ride my sleds hard and put on a lot of miles but I take care of them and don't abuse them. I still have an 03 XC800X M10-Ace and 03 RevX BM 800 which are both in mint condition with 6500 combined miles ridden the same way as the 05 Fusion. If you are not an aggressive driver the 05 Fusion is not a bad sled and worth $6500 but if you drive hard it will disappoint you with many trips back to the dealer. I would be concerned, though, on the fact that no dealer will take a used 05 in trade so you will own it for a while.

Spend the extra to get the 600. If you buy the 900 you will never be able to get rid of it. The 600 will be better in the trails and will have resale value

Im another happy 05 fusion guy, if polaris wasnt doing anything about the problems I'd be a little more weary about getting an 05, but i took mine in after march when I was done riding to my dealer an they did all the updates that were out for it. I had it back in 2 days. I do have to take it back for the spindle update yet but it'll be fixed long b/4 the snow fly's!! and I dont know about you guys but
I ride my sled 3-4 years b/4 getting another one and I "DO NOT" rely on dealer trade in to get any money out of my sled. Thats just stupid!! We all know dealers will put it in your ass on "any trade in" I say go for get an 05 dont be scared! :div20:

Thanks for the input!
At this point the yes and the no's are about equal. I really don't know what to do. My dealer reassured me that all the updates have been completed. I was hoping that those updates would kind of take care of the issues'. Traditionally I have alway's preferred a big cc sled. I kind of live by the old saying "theres no replacement......" . I figured it wasn't a bad price for a sled thats selling for over 9K new. I guess what I'm asking is....After having completed all the updates (and errasing that bad period) and properly adjusting the sled (susp.) would you buy the sled again. How does it compare to similiar size's (800 h.o, ZR 9, Mach Z, Warrior, etc.) ? I would like to base my decision on a sled that has been clensed of all issues. Just for reference Last year I was riding a 03' Rev 800.
Thanks Again.

By asking for people's opinions on this site about the '05 Fusion 900 you are just opening up a can of worms. There have been major arguments about this sled since last winter and I'm sure no one's feelings have changed since then.

If you have a dealer that will stand behind its product, regardless of brand, that's half the battle right there. I've had all the fixes done to my sled and back within a very reasonable amount of time.

Overall, the sled is what it is. All I can suggest is to go to the dealership, sit on it, look it over and make the decision for yourself.

I'm a dyed in the wool Polaris guy, my bud's got on of the 05's, rode it a bunch and here it is. STAY away from the 05. You cannot change the belt angle or add the extra injectors or change the spindle angle.
The sled's just not there yet in the 05 version. Remember the STORM?
Do yourself a favor and get the 06. A much better machine.
FYI. If you do NOT remember the Storm, do some homework before you repeat history.

05 Fuzer with a little understanding regarding the engine clutch alignment issue is a perfectly viable sled... Do you want me to post a vid of my 05 fuzer laying the smack-down on a 05 RevHO8 by like, well it's so far I can even imagine how many sleds would fit inbetween?

You can not fix the lack of two injectors. NELSONS and SPICER have 25 left.

You're right!

'cept I'd be more concerned with keeping the motor secure, once you do that the only problem is belt pull (which also cannot be fixed, cheaply anyway). In all the belt pull angle trys to pull the motor the wrong way... Provided the engine is good an secured enough to overcome the belt pull angle problem, it no longer will be a problem.

There's not a big enough gain between 4 or 2 injectors IMO that it s/b a consideration between 05 & 06 MY's.

Obviously it depends what you want. I have an '05 and am very happy with it, but then I've never had any of the belt issues and my top speed is good (114mph). Personally, I'd get the '06 600 because too many guys have had serious problems that the updates just don't seem to be aimed at. If you are going to be trail riding the 600 will be fast enough, if you spend more time on the lakes then it might just not be enough sled, but then again neither might the 900 if you get a slow one.
