Once the clutch engages, I don't think that the notch has any affect on the shift curve until you drop back down to the engagement RPM. I don't know if I make sense.
I don't think it affect back shifting at all. But Im still learning.
Notch won't effect trail riding....will just really make for a SURGY engagement. If you ever do any VERY slow putting around the woods at sustained speeds under 20 mph the weights will constantly be in and out and be surging all the time. As long as you are either creeping VERY slow or going more than 20mph the notch won't be a problem.
