First I am wondering why nobody is going with the 170 pattern from cat?

Second why does cat and Woody's only recomend 1.075 in lenght?
I talked to a dealer in upstate New York and he said you need to go with 170 1.175 Studs to get them to hook good.

I used Stud-Boys pattern for 170 in a standard F7 track, stud length 1.075, traction is pretty dawn good, I way 245lbs, was up on the bumper twice so far from a standing stop on an icy road! You must remember that the lugs on the track will lay over a little, exposing more of the stud.Shaper bars 9.5" carbide, out front, corners great!

I'm using 136 1.175 SS Traction Masters in center and 34 1.205 Chisels in closed windows. 28 scratch lines. Today on lake pulled 2 ZR 800's, T-Cat, and another F7 Sno-Pro 6-8 lengths for 1/2 mile. The ZR 800 with pipe and clutching and T-Cat go by at 6/10's mile. They were 117 mph on the gun, I was 114. The other F7 was 104 with 1.375 track. Tried clutching and gearing on my standard F7, 114, thats all she's got. Back to bone stock.

Hookedup,

I'm running 170 1.250" Stainless Joe Studs using the AC pattern and it is working excellent. Only 250 miles, but all on terrible conditions or ice racing on lake and have not lost nor bent one stud.

As for length, some maufacuters measure slightly different and I believe the Woody's or Fast Trac 1.175 are the same as a 1.250 from other brands. I would not use the 1.075's and can definately recommend the 170 pattern.

Have fun! B)
