h34r: SMART VALVE PROBLEM! WE REMOVED THEM & PUT IN A WEIGHTED FUEL LINE WITH A FILTER ATTACHED. THIS WAS AFTER THE DEALER DID THE RECALL ON THEM !!! SO IF YOU DON'T NEED IT (THEY MIGHT BE A SAFETY FEATURE)TAKE IT OUT AND SEE !!! h34r:
You would be much better off taking the small rubber sealing disk out of the smart valve, without the fine mesh there is nothing to keep water from freezing in the fuel injector and causing a lean burn down.
 DO NOT REMOVE smart valves or the small white valve disc. You will cause system contamination or a burn down. By removing the disc you will cause a fuel system restriction if the screen closes that will drop your fuel pressure without being able to shut the fuel off ( no white disc) Really a bad idea. If you are having an issue go see your dealer.By installing fuel pickups with screens you will contaminate the screens at the injectors and also eventually cause a burndown that will be very hard to find, injectors are not servicable. If the injector screens plug due to contamination the dealer will have a very difficult time finding this restriction.
jamie is right . the filter in the injectors is called a micron screen made to allow molocules of gas to pass anything else gets trapped and you WILL BURN DOWN. fustration is not worth you losing your warranty over, engine repairs are costly. have the dealer clean and flush your tank, inspect your fuel pressure and have those smartvalves reinstalled. you either had a component failure or something installed incorrectly.
