A friend of mine bought some studs on ebay cheap(172 new 7mm studs for $30.00) well win he first one the auction he didnt know they where 7mm and he went to a local dealer and bought 5/16 backers. well the studs came and they are 7mm. the dealer where he bought the backers said it doesnt matter that they use 5/16 backers on 7mm studs all the time. will it be okay? sorry for the long post and thanks for any help.

The 7mm stud is about 1/32 smaller than the 5/16 stud so the backer hole will be sloppy, may or may not cause problems.

If it was me i would return them and get the correct size backers.
