Hi,

The flex cable from the starter to the pinion? broke ( the key didn't go back from the start position when it last started, so when the machine was stopped... the flex cable snapped and the starter was just spinning!). So I have a replacement flex drive cable and am just wondering the best way to go about putting it in. I don't think I'll be able to bend the cable between the starter and pinion, so I guess I need to remove the starter. It looks like it is attached by rivets though which would be a pain. Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks

Yes it is an XLT. In any case I was able to install the flex shaft by slipping on one side then bending the flex shaft just enough to slip it onto the starter side. Had to use a flat head screwdriver to help with getting enough leverage to get the the tip over.
