Cat says never crank the engineover without grounding spark plugs If you have the switch off kill switch off what is it going to hurt when you pull the recoil over a few times to lube cylinders for summer storage

Pour oil down the spark plug and pull recoil for summer storage some of the cats are hard to spray in the airbox. Cat says ground your plugs before cranking over the sled otherwise can damage ECM or coils never heard of that from the other brands

I asked a tech, at Country Cat, about grounding spark plugs.
My reasoning was if the hoods off, and kill switch engaged, everything should be fine?
He said follow the procedure to be safe.
It's not that tough to ground the spark plugs.
It's in the manual for a reason.

You never want to "float" the spark on a capacitive discharge ignition because you can harm the electronics. I said "can" NOT "will". You may have gotten away with doing that but if you suddenly don't have spark after pulling/ cranking with out sending the spark to ground you damaged the ignition.
