Smart Valves are in your tank. Two of them before the fuel pump. These are to make sure you are sucking fuel from either the front of the tank (if you are going down a hill or braking) or from the rear of the tank (taking off or going up a hill) When they are exposed to air (no fuel) they will close, sucking fuel from the other one that has fuel. The one closer to the fuel pump is not the problem. The one in the rear of the tank is the problem, when it sucks shut it will not release again and you will only be sucking from the front one. AC only has a VIN range that has the bad smart valve in the rear. You can search in this site for "Valve" or "smart" and find related information. My valve was sicked shut for the first 90 miles before I updated it to the new one with out problems.
