i've got an 04' prox 800 its studded, got the big mouth gutted box, slp single, geared, it runs real strong. pulls like crazy. i want more so i ordered a set of slp twins(painted with ceramic can). if i get the pump gas head will i loose power i heard some negatives about their head. i will be getting vf-3's to go with the pipes. but anyways i need a clutch setup all around but more concentrated for upshift not all that worried about backshift as i am usuall running fairly open trails. i already have eliminated the perc by running a non-er team helix. i dont need reverse so help me out with some setups guys. any other info on these pipes would be greatly appreciated. power, sound, jetting opinions? let me know. thanks mark

if u dont run there head i beleive u have to run a race fuel blend because of the stock high compression.

Why'd u choose slp? Should have gone with a true flatlander company, like hot to go, dd, crank shop, then you wouln't have to run a lower compression head the pipes are designed for flatland riding. SLP does most of their testing and designing in the higher altitudes.

If you can, get your money back and cancel the order. Go to 'Sports Unlimited', on 28 North where you live, and have the guy who runs the dyno/sled mods make you a set of his twin pipes. They make more power thru the entire powerband than SLP and you can run your stock head. The problem with SLP and some other companies is that they make the stingers on the pipes to dam small, so the backpressure is to great to run the stock head. The guy at S U makes his stingers almost double the size of SLP. Plus you can have them put the sucker on the dyno and get the most out of your motor by knowing where it is making the most power, and then clutching it right.

Dont go with the vforce reeds, they break and arent that great anyway. If you want to see or feel an improvement get the boyeson reeds. They are much stiffer improving the top end much more than the vf3's and if your going to twins you'll want the stifer reed. Also they wont chip like the vf3's and jack up the guts of the engine, seen that happen a few times and experienced it. Just my.02

We had my buddies 03ProX8 with SLP twins and their pump head, airbox top, jetted to 540. Clutch was 10-68, almond/blue, 70/46.46 helix. We tried many different clutch setups and this worked the best for trail for him. Any steeper on the helix, and the sled was doggier corner to corner. The full progressives are good for lake running, but I personally dont like them for trail/boondocking.
