i just removed my pistons on the clutch side the cylinder was coated with plenty of oil, the other side looked pretty dry. why would one side be well coated and the other side dry? both pistons did look to be in about the same condition. this is on a 03 f7

What do you mean exactly by scratches? If you can't hook your fingernail in them, don't worry about it. Unless of course there is an above average number of miles on the sled, and new pistons and rings put your mind at ease.

I had some minor scratches on clutch side on my 04 f7. found it to be a small peice of nikasil had flaked off cyl. In my it was covered under warrenty, got complete top end & cyl's out of the deal

just something to look for, if youve got it apart look the cyl. over good
