A buddy just bought this sled new, couple of questions.

Does anyone know the best aftermarket can for this sled? I believe he is looking at weight savings and power? Probably should be quiet?

Can you remove the heat shield and ceramic coat the stock pipe without melting the hood or anything else?

Any other things he should know about this sled? He will be riding it in the mountains, off trail in Minnesota and on trail in Minnesota.

Thanks

Jeff

HPS is the best can for a REV.... weight/power wise..... but it's going to be pretty loud...

Why's he want to remove the heat shield? I'm guessing it's on there for a reason... but who knows if it would actually melt the hood.

He's going to love the sled, my dad has a 04 Summit 800X 144...... great climbing power

He wants to ceramic coat the stock pipe which in theory should eliminate the need for the shield.

The ceramic coating does insulate / reflect heat. After the pipe is coated there is no need for the heat sheilds that are designed to also hold heat in the pipe / and reduce noice. As a result of losing the sheilds you will also spare your pipe from damp insulation (under the sheilds) that is held against it. The stock sheilds will cause the pipe to rot within 2-5 years.

BTW,,,.....from the stock pies we have dyno'd with and without coating.........the ceramic COATING on the OUTSIDE only ussually adds 2-3hp and a few ft/lbs on a STOCK pipe. If you coat on the outside ONLY that will guarentee at least the same or hopefully BETTER performance on stock pipes.

Our cost for a complete single system is $200.00 USD. Return shipping is FREE until Nov 1.

Hope that helps. Check out our website for more info. :beerchug:

The heat sheilds are designed to bring exhaust levels to an acceptable number for one bureaucrat in the capitol , heat will not be an issue with the coating. Make sure you go with a respectable exhaust company for your A /M can because there are a few out there that are known to loss power on the dyno . Stick with a reputable firm. MBRP has a good product as does Dynoport . DAWG :beerchug:
