Picked up Extreme at Haydays (Eagle River this year) from Ken's Sports at $40 per gallon. I think the main reason for me is to not give any warranty questions that might be attributed to the oil quality.

 

I run extreme in my sleds. I watched a few videos and extreme has better cold flow and apparently better wear protection. For the few bucks extra a gallon you might as well.

 

I've used extreme in both my Polaris sleds for the last 3 years. Extreme is a ester base oil which I always heard was a premium base, what that means I don't know but in the old days it wasn't used much due to it's poor cold flow, but with today's technology that's not an issue. Extreme actually probably has the best ratings for cold flow of any 2 stroke oil.

Does your 2013 600 have power valves? If it does I would not use blue. Use VES or VES extreme. On an older sled like that, I would just use VES. On the new 850 I would use extreme, and I do on my new sled. Only reason you should run extreme is if you are riding in VERY cold temps. Like -20 F then I would use extreme

 

2021 SBA 650 and I run Lucas Synthetic Snowmobile oil. Just over a 1000 miles this year and zero issue.

 

To help with cold pour wait to fill up your oil tank until the morning. Use warm oil from inside the cabin or hotel. The latent heat from the warm oil will warm up the little bit of oil in the tank and help it flow better.

 

Ran VES in the 800 Rush last season, bought a case of Extreme for the 850 this season and started putting that in the Rush once I ran out of VES.

Extreme smells horrible and burns my eyes. Combine that with heavy oil rate on new 850 and whoa momma.

The extreme works better at leaner injection rates 60:1 - 70:1 (older Clean-Fire non HO engines.)

The VES gold works better with heavier oiling rates 40:1 - 50:1

The 850 is injecting at around 27:1 total

If anyone was ever concerned with cold oil flow, why not just wire in a heated grip element and attach it to the side of the oil tank? Simple mod, done. 100+ oil temps

 

Probably a bigger deal after it sat outside all night before it’s started in the morning
