Unscrew the 6 or 8 bolts on the helix, slide it out. Then you'll need a spring compressor to compress the spring inside under the roller unit.I fabricated one out of 1/2 inch threaded rod and some custom welding to size the roller unit.Compress and remove the retainer (large circlip like ring).Be careful. For more info/pics get a Polaris performance manual on your particular machine, invaluable info @ your fingertips.

The only thing that is EVER lubed on any clutch (primary or secondary) is the inside bore of the helix. There is usually 2 small machined grooves in there for a very LIGHT film of grease to be held in. This is to keep the helix from rusting to the clutch. Compressed air is the best thing for blowing out the rollers and a rag to wipe the busings off. Sometimes i'll use some fine scotchbrite to clean the belt dust residue of the outside of the helix.
Some people will use brake-cleaner on the clutches but I worry about that soaking into the aluminum pores and the bushings.

Most people who didn't like the polaris roller weren't indexing the helix properly when they put it back together. When you set the helix on the spring and push it down into the clutch , there will be a roller that wants to line up right away.THATS NOT THE ONE YOU WANT !. You have to wrap the spring 1/3 turn to get the next roller to line up then push it down into it.
If you don't do this, you won't have any spring wrap and it won't backshift.
