Polaris Inc. said Thursday it was awarded a contract to build new ultralight tactical vehicle for the for the U.S. Military, using one of the company's military-grade off-roaders
The seven-year contract, awarded to Polaris's Polaris Government and Defense division by the Government Services Administration (GSA), has a value of up to $109 million.
The MRZR Alpha will be assembled in Polaris' Roseau manufacturing plant, where the company has maintained operations for more than 65 years and currently employs nearly 1,500 employees.
Designed and engineered in Minnesota, the MRZR moniker is probably familiar to fans of Polaris' RZR off-road vehicle, but uses technology from across the company's product line. It's intended to speed up movement for special operations forces, letting them rapidly get to new locations.
