Some of the best riding off the hill starts in Carthage. But like everywhere "off the hill", it all depends on the snow.

Kidney stones SUCK !!

Just down the road from the hotel is a McDonalds on route 26 at the traffic light. Turn left at the light and go about a mile to the next traffic light by a Valero gas station and turn right. The groomer barn is just down the road on the right and you can park on the left. Right on the trail. Currently getting lake effect. Should be able to ride from there with no problem. Trail goes to Copenhagen-Barnes Corners or by-pass the Copenhagen cut-off and go straight to Montague. Hope this helps!
Hey JSWG .... Is Keddy's still open ?? I haven't been in Carthage in a few yrs, but used to ride from there all the time from my cousin's house on West St. Is there still a curfew crossing the bridge ???

Also, instead of going into Copenhagen and Barnes Corners, you can also go left before getting to the Buffalo Inn (will always be Hill-Billy Heaven to me ...) and go along the lower route too.... snow allowing of course

CatskillMike... look at a Tug trail map and you'll see there are some nice loops you can do from there. Without even really hitting "on the hill". If I was up there when you are planning to ride, I'd love to meet up !!

Looks like friends going to tug friday might be in for a 2-3 ft treat. Good for them I hope tug gets slammed. maybe the season will be full on til may!!
They should have a great weekend up there. We rode 120+ miles today and the further north we went, the more fresh powder there was. Some friends of mine who live in Copenhagen and Croghan posted pics of over 2 feet just from overnight.

This pic was from just outside Barnes Corners....

APPARENTLY roadrs are being closed and my friends might not be able to drive to carthage. IDK
Had no issues drive there or back today. From Lake George, thru Old Forge, to Constableville. But if they are traveling a different way, I'm sure there could be some issues. Depending on where the wind is blowing the LE snows and how hard....

Great to hear! With the snow they have gotten there the past couple of days.... I don't think they could have planned a better week !

If I stopped at dealer on way north and traded my sled in on a new one ,I wouldn't be able to legally ride until next week,DMV. Right?
No. Dealer would issue a temp reg when selling the new sled to you. You would have to make sure to get insurance on it however.
