For those of you that own this helmet, how do you like it? What helmet did it replace? How does it compare to the modular?

I used to have the Mod3 by doo and thought this helmet was good but did not always like the mask on my face all the time>>>So went to the Oxygen last year and since I have had chance to put about 2500 miles with this helmet, for me is a winner>>>I have glasses also and not much problem to speak of>>>>Seems it is a love hate relationship for some people>>>>I have never worn a balaclava either>>>>Would be to hot>>>>I feel the Oxygen is very user friendly for Communicators also>>>>If you do not mind the cord then this Helmet in my mine is great>>>>I run my cord up through my jacket and out of the way then>>>>My biggest down fall with this helmet is forgetting to hook the cord onto the back of the helmet>>>>You know in a short time the cord is not hooked up>>>>
As Far as comparing to Modular which I have had over the last 10 years or more, to me not a big deal>>>>I still can drink like water out of a bottle if need to be or eat a snack also>>>Would I buy another Oxygen>>>>Yes for me, but other people have had bad results with the Oxygen>>>
Some people have also gone to a Mission which to me is close to a Mod 3 but not as restrictive with the mask>>>

I personally do not own one but everyone I know that switched from whatever helmet they were using had a very positive feeling about the oxygen helmet. I was on the fence about getting one but didn’t like the fact that they had to be plugged in all of the time to remain fog free. I went with a Mission helmet instead. The oxygen helmet is a great helmet otherwise.

I went from a 509 to oxygen last year. I never had any problem with it. I didn't like the price but it makes my time on the trail much better I feel. I can see more and never had a problem with fogging. I like the light on the back for safety also. The only problem was getting the Sena headset in it. Was not as easy as other helmets that I have had. Also take extra care of the shield the replacement is around 180.00.

I tried on a couple and yes the visor was terribly distorted. I wear glasses, but don't need them (yet anyway) for riding. That distortion was on every helmet I saw.

I'd go with a heated visor anyway, (if one is available) I don't use the mask on my Mod 3 and have the visor cracked all the time anyway.

This is a tough one. Hate spending that kind of money and hating the helmet. Based on a couple aquaintances that do own it I got a 50-50 split.

Hmm.

Check out the CKX mission helmet. Similar price, doesn’t have to be plugged, functions very well and is a bit more stylish than the oxygen helmet.

The question with the mission helmet is, can you wear glasses without the breath deflector? I could not get used to the breath deflector on the mission even after it was correctly positioned.
I did buy an oxygen helmet at the November snow show. I like the way it fits, I did not feel claustrophobic in it, it's light, it has the built-in balaclava, the drop-down lenses are heated and won't fog, the optional light is a great feature. We will see if I get used to the distortion in the shield. I already went back to the dealer and swapped out the shield because they didn't clean properly between the lenses when they assembled it. You could only see this when you were in the bright Sun. It would not show up under the lights or inside.
Hope I like it, I'll report back this winter after I get some seat time.

Have 2 years on the Oxygen that replaced bv2s. Didn’t like the mask and sold it after only few rides. I would never buy the modular.
Pros and cons for the Oxygen. No balaclava needed is awesome, even on the coldest days. Field of vision is huge and have not noticed any distortion. Definitely need the internal sun visor with the large shield.
Air flow is not great and they can be warm. If you perspire easily it may not be the right choice. Last year I taped down part of the top rubber visor seal and that allowed air to vent better. This years se models come with a zippered vent in the neck curtain which will definitely help.
Mission is also great choice, one in our group wears one. Almost never need the heated visor plugged in. Never fogs but requires a balaclava and is 50/50 whether you can get away without the breath box.
Both are good and each has their pros and cons. Depends on what features are most important to each user.

After riding with a BV2S for a decade I bought the Oxygen and have used it for the past two seasons. The Oxygen is better in every way over the BV2S except for having to use a power cord. No breathe box is the biggest benefit and in addition it's lighter, easier to get on and off and was really easy to install my UClear setup in and on it.

The mask distortion complaint is an issue for some. My brother and I do not experience this but if you move the helmet around it is possible to find an angle where things will get distorted. Just like the BV2S it fits every rider in a slightly different way and in this case where your eyeballs land inside the helmet could be the cause. The BV2S was no different. Thousands of riders loved it but there were also a lot of complaints where the helmet did not work. In every case of a rider that I met that it did not work, including one or two in our group, for them specifically it was almost always a fit issue.

This is why I recommend buying a helmet from a dealer that will support the sale. If the helmet does not work they should take it back and exchange it for something that does. Now that helmets are routinely $400 and up that is the only way I would ever drop that kind of money on a lid. Also, there is a long warranty on the Oxygen and a good dealer will help with any issues during that time specifically with the lens.

I've used a BV2S the last 6 or 7 years, but picked up an Oxygen this off-season. I wasn't planning to buy one but I tried it on by accident and I was blown away by the comfort / light weight / huge view. Maybe it's not a perfect helmet but it sure seems a lot nicer than my BV2S! I was also considering a Mission but my dealer didn't have any in stock, and there weren't any in stock online. What happens if you order online and it doesn't fit? Pay to send it back and wait 2 months for a new one? Maybe next year.

I'm not a huge cord fan but with the E-Linq on my sled I now have only 1 cord for both the helmet and the tether.

Edit: after using the Oxygen I give it a good review. Definitely a nice upgrade over the BV2S.

Anyone that spends that kind of money for a trail riding helmet isn't right when they could buy an hjc with an electric shield for way less that imo works much better.
I've owned both an hjc cl-12 and the bell sno arrow i currently use both with electric sheilds....imo can't be beat. I've used them above freezing in rain and -40. They never fog, or ice up. If you dress the cord properly you'll never have an issue. I've put thousands of miles on them, very reliable, and always clear vision. I've tried others that had the BV2S doo helmets they felt heavier, and always cold. No way would i ever buy one.

Sleds are $17,000 plus now and a lot of people get a new one every year or two. It is what it is. I will keep a good helmet for many years through multiple sleds. So to me it's worth $5-600 if I have to spend that to get a good fog free, comfortable helmet that I can put Cardo Packtalk system in. That's my only issue with the mission it didn't seem to have room in there for wires and speakers etc...I have a Mission just to try but didn't like it as much as my Oxygen so I may just sell it.

I'll stick with what works for me and that makes it easy to justify the cost of a helmet when a good one will last a long time. My BV2S went 10 years before replacing and I expect the Oxygen to last just as long.

If a helmet does not work it does not matter what the cost is and last I checked even an HJC modular wasn't exactly cheap at $2-300 bills.

My 10 year old helmet was past its due date. 2 years ago I bought a 509 R3. Almost got frost bite. So much cold air came between the shield and helmet. Last year bought a R4. Just as bad as the previous 509. A buddy swears by his oxygen helmet. He picked one up for me for this year.
mad long as I’m not freezing, I’m sure I’ll be happy with it

I've got several helmets. My current one is a mod 3 and I love it. Best helmet I've ever owned. Everyone is different. I sold helmets and each to his own.

I couldn't wear an open face riding in the nek or the county, but other people do.

Luckily we have good choices all around and that's what's important.
