I recently moved from Michigan to Northern New Jersey. I have heard about places to ride in NY like Tug Hill and Old Forge, but have not been yet.

I just got back from Michigan for a holiday/snowmobile vacation - NO SNOW.

I have a group of friends in Michigan that are thinking about making a trip out here on Wednesday to ride.

I'm looking into the registration and trail permit issues, but what I'm looking for from the GREAT members of this site is where to go.

Suggestions for:

Areas to ride (where to go and to avoid)
Lodging
Parking (staging areas)
Any other tips

Please HELP

1) have to reg in state of n.y. $35.00 at the dept. of motor vehicles
2) tughill trails are closed , no insurance
3) old forge requires a seperate reg sticker $75.00 for the year i believe

the riding is ten times better than the up of mich.
hopefully the tug trails will re-open

L8er,

There is close to 3 feet on snow on the ground here in the Lake George area, however all of out trails are closed at the present time. Old Forge/Inlet trail system remains open and you will find plenty of good riding there. They require a $75.00 annual permit, but those guys do a great job of grooming. For more info on what trails are open or closed you can get all the club info at www.nyssa.com.
