Arctic Cat’s new snowmobile platform, coming in 2023, will span our mountain, crossover and trail sled families, and will give everyone the ride of their life.
That’s gotta make people that paid 3 grand more for a same model snowcheck real warm and cozy.
Im sure glad they did this though! I’ll be the first in line as I’ve been patiently waiting for a new platform since my last 2017 cat. Much rather give cat my money than Polaris.
Let the guessing games begin!!! Lol!!
Headlight looks different. Shape of body looks similar to current. A lightened upgraded procross??? With new name of course.
According to Arctic Insider it spans the trail, crossover, and mountain 2 strokes. Sounds like they're splitting the 2 strokes off into the new chassis, will the 4 strokes follow later? Or ride on a modified version? I'm betting the latter
Yes there is a new race sled. Cat submitted the technical drawings to isoc a while ago. Doo and poo also have a lot of changes coming to their race sleds
I’m by no means an expert in Arctic Cat. Have not owned one since 2008. That said, it sounds like downsizing to me. One chassis to cover all of those market segments?
They have had one basic chassis since the procross came out. The mountain chassis is slightly different from the trail sled. The Blast is the mountain sled with a cheap tunnel on it and the skid mounted higher in the tunnel to make it sit lower
If you like the way the straight on look you get from Doo you like the front end on this sled. The Montana testing the racers did was good and they said it does ride better, but they blew the belly pans off the sled (again.... common issue with the ProCross chassis too) and some other plastics but they got another year to figure that out. The seat also looked very different which is good cause it needed an upgrade, especially for taller riders. Looks like it will be a good package
Is this the place where we all start listing all of the possible things this new platform is supposed to include, so we can come back after it's released and show how disappointed we are in it when it doesn't have everything?
Honestly, I'm thankful they finally got something out there that we can all start pointing to. I just hope that this is not just some marketing job to drum up publicity.
Somehow, it seems like introducing a 650 and 850 would be one of the easiest things they could do. But this alone will not be enough. They have got to at least come up to 2018 standards and include a factory GPS, at least as an option.
I've been reading about Doo's new Gen5 chassis, and from what I read, it's impressive. I especially like the added 4th engine mount to smooth out vibrations at the handlebars.
There has to be something in this new package that we can't get from the other manufacturers. Everybody has been talking about lightweight, mass centralization, and ergonomics for years. What will Cat come up with that we will be the new "must have" feature of a new chassis?

"introducing a 680 and 880", there, fixed it for you..
And we saw the early engineering test mules for the GPS screen a long time ago, during the past winter, before the 23 release. Only two more months until we see it unveiled!
Whatever the new sled is....it is good for Cat and good for the sport. And, it should put to rest all the Doo n Poo ass wipes that have been saying Cat is done!
If they did anything to the engine it would probably something similar to this. Kinda like they did with the zr900 back in the day. I wanna say that sled was actually an 860 back then.
I was so happy when I read this earlier today. I hope to hell it can compete with the 850's, whatever size motor they go with...or dare I say kick the ever living crap out of them?
“The platform is designed to give everyone the ride of their life, with more centralized weight distribution, a lightweight yet strong design and improved ergonomics,” the statement continues. “The platform will span the two-stroke mountain, crossover and trail sled families. Find more information on Arctic Cat’s website and be part of history.”
I hope cat isn’t planning on dropping 4 strokes as it says its for 2 strokes. Mentions nothing about 4 strokes. What will this mean for Yamaha?
It definitely looks like the spindles are smaller. I personally like the higher spindle look as it works and looks great. I found it separated Cats from doo and poo but time will tell.
This is good for the sport... lets hope we see something that's totally new that will push the sport forward again like the Rev did in 2003 Glad to see Cat is sticking around...
Almost looks like the head light has the uptick thing only on one side (on coming traffic side) like an led indicator telling on coming traffic how many behind you.
Seeing these stills of the video, reminded me of these pictures from ArcticInsider..... I know the drawings are of the original ProCross, but some pieces and parts seem to fit....
One thing Textron has been good at is not releasing unfinished products. Wildcat XX for one. Updates? Yes, but solid product.
