My brother and I ordered the new Ski Doo Advex to try this year but this new 509 looks very nice. I'm not a fan of modulars so might be changing my mind and try this.s

Did you happen to try one with Comms?

We rode with Oxygens for a few seasons then I switched to the Mission. I loved not having to run without a cord for most of my riding. I felt the Mission was not nearly as quiet. Ordered the Advex because of the integral comm system. Hoping to check out this 509 at the Novi show.

509 is a great company. They stand behind their helmets and are easy to work with. John is awesome. My last two

509 helmets were the worst helmets I ever had. Both let ice in and I pretty much froze. Warm weather, they were fine. Cold weather was awful. The only time my face wasn’t cold was when enough snow got trapped between the shield and helmet and it made an ice dam. I gave up on their fit and finish. Not bad mouthing, just my experience

I have the 22 model Delta 4 and it has been a great helmet. Don’t even plug it in most days and have never had an issue with air leaks of any kind or fogging. Love the wind skirt and visibility. This new model I’m sure will be even better with the new venting system.

I have absolutely no interest in owning a $900 helmet. Period. Who makes a good $450 helmet? With buttons for the latch mechanism that are a total disaster to manipulate.
Not saying the buttons above are not good, I’ve never seen them, never will, that’s just my one pet peeves with helmets. Find one that fits and works really good but I have to struggle with the latch. Find one with a good latch, and the helmet is junk

CKX Mission is an amazing $500 helmet and the no frills Contact at $250 is stellar as well. f

I went the moto helmet route around '93/'94 and I don't see myself ever going away from that. I've tried different modular and full-face helmets and to me, they just don't work as good. My face does get cold once or twice a year when it's flat nasty cold and I'm on a long high-speed trail. I avoid those like the plaque so it's rarely an issue.
I loved my Titan for a long time. It was comfortable, fairly quiet and keep me warm enough in most conditions...and then I bought a Mission. No comparision for me personally. Everyone's riding environment is different though. I could just never stop drafts and air leakage with that Titan.

Seems like every couple of years 509 comes out with a latest and greatest helmet and the story is the same - people have a bunch of issues with them but the company does make it right. I don't live where I can ride from home so I can't deal with helmets having issues when I get on a trip. I have a CKX from a few years ago. I can't remember the name but it was billed as a crossover where you can use the shield or goggles. I haven't tried it with goggles yet but it works well with the shield. Does need to be plugged in most of the time. I'm happy with it but it was under $200. Had a 5 year warranty on it. I think I'll get a mission when I feel like upgrading.

I just bought a new CKX Contact. Was thinking last year but really happy with my Delta 4 and it was over $300 Canadian. Well I got it this year on sale for $187 plus tax cnd, at that price I couldn’t pass on it. The main reason I bought it is the weight. Being a very simplistic helmet the weight is much less than my 509. It’s listed at only 1510 grams which gets it into the carbon fibre weight but for a low price.

I really like my Delta R3, it seals well and is warm and quiet. However, I am now on my 5th heated shield. They have all failed either electrically or delaminating. 509 warrantied the first 3 and quit responding after that. I can't trust it to work on a long weekend. I went ahead and bought a Mission at Haydays this year.

Seems very similar to a Mission and my son has used a Mission for a few years with no problems. I just got it so can’t say much but it is so lite it’s noticeable compared to my Delta 4. I think the simplicity is good nothing to break. CKX is a snowmobile company first so they make good stuff. I swear by their leather gloves. At that price it’s @ steal.

I bought a Contact last year to try as my extreme cold/long trip helmet. Spent 4 high speed, cold weather days in QC. It is a fantastic lid for the money. Electric shield was flawless. Comfortable, light and quiet. No problems with opening and closing visor. Much like my Mission.

Sorry that I'm behind on noticing this thread. I have the Delta V Commander Carbon, but... no snow and have not ridden with it yet.

I've made several videos on the helmet so far and will continue making updates when I finally have more experience with the helmet. This is my initial thoughts on the helmet:

In another video, I compared to the Oxygen and Mission and have a longer-than-normal video on my helmet shopping and research, including actual helmet weights.

Sizing is a little unpredictable, but I think part of that is a misunderstanding on how the adjustable ear cups work. I covered that in another video.

It's expensive, that's for sure.
