I'm selling a 2003 f5 to get rid of the debt. I'm looking to get into another cat 500. What would you guys suggest.

I would really like EFI but not 100% necessity (did any 500's have efi?)
Probably no older than 98
Reliable history
I don't ditch bang
Under $2000
Power Valves would be good but not necessary

What year would I be looking for?

The 99 on up ZR/ ZL 500's did come with efi until at leat 2000. Good little motors. Just thirsty is all. should be able to find a good deal on on of them baby's

01 also came with EFI and PV's, but I think some of he 500 EFi sleds also had less HP than the carbs. I wouldn't rule out the carb model, I'v had good luck with mine so far 4900 miles.

I would agree with the other that a ZL500 would be great sled. I have several friend that have had them and they are great sled. I believe they are only about 10HP less than your F5. Keep a eye out you may also be able to find a ZR500 as well.

There is about 8hp in the diff, I think a good working 500 ZR/ZL will give a F5 a good run.
