Do I need extra tunnel protection for my 03 REV if I am putting in 144 studs down the middle only (no outsides)?

If so, how much and how hard i this to do? Not familiar with the front of my tunnel, and dont even know what I am protecting by adding this (heat exchanger possibly?) I have heard this somewhere before, and want to make sure Im not screwing anything up when I stud my sled.

Thanks for your help.

yeah revfirefighter, your gonna need a protection kit. there are 2 different ones depending on track lug height.

1 inch kit -pn#861783500 list -$77.79

1 1/4 kit-pn#861783900 list -$ 61.99

the reason the 1 inch is more because it comes with a bulkhead protection kit where the 1 1/4 kit does not. if your sled has a factory 1 1/4 track, it came with the front bulkhead protectors so thats why the 1 1/4 kit does not include the extra parts--hope this helps :div20:

The protecters are the ones on the outside. This pic is after running 144 studs for 8250 miles, only one ding in the bulkhead (when I lost a stud last year)

An alternative to the kit which is a PITA to install is to just slide taller Doo tunnel protectors into where those stock ones are in the heat exchanger. Then just simply make sure you don't stud underneath them.

To install the kit you need to rivet down from the top of tunnel. Seat and gas tank need to be removed, which requires removing entire console. Major surgery just to install a handful of rivets. :banghead: :banghead: :augen41:
