RMK low for me unless it is super cold then it's the tallest one I got. The mid throws the wind right in your face.

In the foreground is my Vr1 with low w/s and my buddies xcr with the mid smoke behind it. I found no w/s is ok to -15/20 then need the w/s. At -30 there’s a big difference between the low and mid. The low doesn’t have the “wings” that attach lower on the side of the panel. Makes a difference when it’s really cold. For most trail riding this didn’t need the w/s.
Second photo with no w/s is my preference.

One thing we found with W/S height was the taller shields produced more top end on the lakes if that matters.
That's interesting.
Riding without a windshield I was surprised at how much wind was hitting me because I heard the matryx had good wind protection and I'm not overly tall.
It was physically hard to hang onto the handlebars at 80mph because of how much wind was catching my upper body.

Have a mid windshield Indy 650 Adventure. I’m 6’1” and don’t wear the heaviest of riding gear. It works fine for me and not cold, nor have I noticed buffeting, even on high speed runs across a lake.

I own both shields and honestly, the lower one is just as good. Literally notice zero difference between the two and I rode at -30 below F this winter with it.
For the record, I also ride with Klim jackets and a CKX Mission helmet. The proper jackets and helmets are more important than how tall a windshield is for the best in wind protection.
Glad to hear more positive reports on the mission helmet I am getting one of them for the coming season myself. I am 5' 7" I ordered mine with the tall windshield I am hoping this is high enough at my height to direct most of the air over my head and away from my hands. I also plan to block the front portion of the open floorboards as another member on here did.

Wow that zx chassis doo still looks brand new condition

I have the mid and the buffering drive me nuts. I took it off for the last trip of the season and the buffering was gone. Made the sled much more enjoyable. No more headaches after a long day of riding. I’m 6’1” and use an oxygen helmet with the full hearing protection in it as well.

I noticed how bad the buffering was with the mid after riding my brothers sled with the low windshield. I switched to a Mission helmet this year and the buffering was more pronounced since it is considerably louder then my Oxygen.

You guy's don't ride with ear plugs? Should try it, I can't stand to ride a mile without them, way less fatigue at the end off the day, check out No Noise plugs for motorsports, can still hear the motor, can still talk, way less wind, that shit is damaging your ears.

No need for ear plugs with a low shield IMO. I tried a buddy's Doo this past season, tall shield, and it was way too loud. Plus the shield sent the air right down my back. So I prefer low shields but I've never noticed that problem with a mid shield either.

Same. I always do. I find the droning of the engine gives me a headache after a while.

Would love some kind of noise cancelling helmet!!Been wearing earplugs for 20 years or better!!soooo nice at end of the day!
Been looking at custom fit plugs to make it easier to take in and out.

Get noise canceling ear buds that hook to Bluetooth. Can keep things quiet or listen to tunes. AC/DC really makes the miles go by in a hurry

I find my CKX Mission helmet to be VERY quiet. First helmet I ever owned in my life that literally impressed me on all fronts, and I've owned them all!

Hoping at 5' 7" the tall windshield will work well for me and direct most over my head and away from my hands. Sure hope I don't encounter a lot of buffering or I will have to switch to a low.

Thanks. It’s a 380f my son rode this year and he loves it. It’s in mint shape ( told him to keep it that way lol)
