Mid vs Low windshield - Opinions

Bought my VR1 in early March this season so I was able to ride it the rest of the season without a windshield (definitely a cold ride down the lake a couple of mornings) but I definitely need a windshield for next season.
I'm debating between the 'mid windshield' and the 'low dark smoke windshield'
Can you guys share some pictures of how they look (especially if anyone has both)
Wondering if a low windshield with handguards is an adequate setup for trail riding if dressed properly or if you really need the mid shield to block much wind.
In the past, I've had sleds with windshields that were the perfect height that they would deflect the air right up under your chin and that was no good either. Thanks in advance for the input.

Low all the way imo, I didn't miss the medium at all.

I’m 5’10”. My son’s VR1 is really uncomfortable for me with the Mid shield. All buffet, no protection where it matters. I actually prefer riding his with no windshield at all and big handguards (Rox Flex Tec). Minimal wind noise at the chin or face shield, good hand protection. He’s 5’7” and reports the same. For him the low shield’s airflow caught him under the chin bar, which is what moved him to take the shield off altogether, it looks a little nekkid on top but work’s better.

PS Hockey nice golden. I’m typing this from the waiting room of the vet’s office with mine right now. Routine oil change and tire rotation for her today.

X2 on the Golden. I'm getting mine in July (it'll be my third one), l can't wait!!

I'm new to Polaris for '24 and l was wondering about the windshields, also. I'm going to ride mine first and go from there. I'm 5'11" and have a shorter torso so l think l should be ok with the medium that l ordered. I've been on Ski-Doo's for the last 22 years and l can't wait to get my new Polaris!

I personally love the look of the low windshield. It does deflect the wind but when going slow not so much. I am 5'9" and my son 5'11" and we rode in single digits this year with no issues. The hand guards help but in single digits, you better have good gloves. Riding for hours in Canada at 60 mph plus.....not sure how that would work out. Just remember....it's how you look! LOL

I own both shields and honestly, the lower one is just as good. Literally notice zero difference between the two and I rode at -30 below F this winter with it.
For the record, I also ride with Klim jackets and a CKX Mission helmet. The proper jackets and helmets are more important than how tall a windshield is for the best in wind protection.

Glad to hear more positive reports on the mission helmet I am getting one of them for the coming season myself. I am 5' 7" I ordered mine with the tall windshield I am hoping this is high enough at my height to direct most of the air over my head and away from my hands. I also plan to block the front portion of the open floorboards as another member on here did.
In the foreground is my Vr1 with low w/s and my buddies xcr with the mid smoke behind it. I found no w/s is ok to -15/20 then need the w/s. At -30 there’s a big difference between the low and mid. The low doesn’t have the “wings” that attach lower on the side of the panel. Makes a difference when it’s really cold. For most trail riding this didn’t need the w/s.
Second photo with no w/s is my preference.

I have the mid and the buffering drive me nuts. I took it off for the last trip of the season and the buffering was gone. Made the sled much more enjoyable. No more headaches after a long day of riding. I’m 6’1” and use an oxygen helmet with the full hearing protection in it as well.
