MATRYX Adjustments & Maintenance Videos w/ Tools:

These are some of the Matryx snowmobile Maintenance videos that Polaris has created recently. In terms of maintenance, there is NO difference between the 650 and 850 powered Matryx sleds because of their engine size, OTHER than using different drive belts.

Between the Matryx INDY 129/137 sleds (with PRO-CC rear suspension) and the Matryx Switchback Assault (SBA) 146 (with IGX rear suspension), there is a difference in shock/spring factory setup and how they actually work, but maintenance is pretty much the same, except you don't have to check coupling blocks on the Matryx SBA 146.

These video topics start out with ORIENTATION to the sleds, which does a good job of describing different parts and features and showing where they are located on the sled. There is a video for Matryx INDY sleds and a different one for Matryx Switchback Assault (SBA 146). Since they are basically interchangeable other than the ORIENTATION topic, I have some of each, but cover ALL topics.

A section has been added with 4 videos on Suspension Adjustment.

The rest of the topics are in alphabetical order.

The Table of Contents shows the titles of the videos we have, and then after that are the sections for each video. I added notes on tools, supplies and some information not in the video that I felt was important, so you don't have to make notes while watching the video. The actual YOUTUBE link to the video is at the end of each video's section.

Understanding Suspension Adjustment: Handling and Cornering - Polaris Snowmobiles 5:10

Weight transfer between front and rear of sled.

OVERSTEER, turns aggressively track slides out, fishtails
... Need to transfer weight from front to back

UNDERSTEER, sled front pushes when attmpting to turn, keeps going straight.
... Need to transfer weight from back to front

DARTING, skis grab ruts in trail and turns in a way that was not intended.
... Check for proper toeout, if ok, then increase FTS spring preload

SKI LIFT, Skis lift off the ground during acceleration resulting in loss of steering control
... Decrease FTS spring preload
... Decrease IFS spring preload
... Turn up Rear Coupling blocks to resist weight transfer to rear

CHATTER: Excessive harshness from the suspension when traveling over rough terrain

BOTTOM OUT: Where the suspension compresses fully and reaches it's end stop

WHOOPS/MOGULS: A series of smaller hills in succession that toss the rider around.

Understanding Suspension Adjustment: Perfect Ride - Polaris Snowmobiles 2:26

Before riding/tuning, make sure suspension is set to factory specs.

First, Ride the sled to get a baseline on ride and handling.

. Consider how the sled handles at your preferred speed?
... Oversteer, Understeer, Darting ?
. Does the sled handle corners like you were expecting?
. Does the back of sled slide out when turning?
. How does the sled react to your acceleration habits?
... Does the front end lift too much when taking off?
... Does the track seem to spin too easily?

. Are you reaching your desired comfort level?

. Does the ride feel harsh or too soft?

UNDERSTAND, there will be tradeoffs / give and take, to any adjustments you make.

Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen.
I tuned the post up a little, and made it a little more consistent in format. If anyone sees some mistakes or becomes aware of any additional information, just post it on this thread, and I will work it into post #1 when I can.

How do you get access to the videos? A few of them say the video is private and I need to be granted access. Specifically the build video "Polaris MY11 Switchback Assault 144 Assembly Line"

Go to the Polaris snowmobile website, create a account if you have not done so. Under "vehicle 101" you will see a DIY video tab.
