I Have never gotten what others claim for MPG. Just the way I ride I guess. I want range. There is no reason for a sled not to have a 12+ gallon tank. Of course then they couldn’t sell us a $150 accessory gas can that is really worth $10.

For me it's not about saving money. it's about not having to plan a ride around a gas station. If these 650s can safely get me 120 miles on a tank I'm cool with that. Also if they have the ability to be ridden slowly and go further, even better. It's the reason I sold my 2017 ZR9k, that Yamaha triple could only get me 100 miles no matter if rode easy or hard. Now couple that with riding with 600 etecs who can go easily another 40 miles. So I will agree with north star Rick, if these sleds get 15-18 , with the possibility of NSP getting more out of them, then sign me up!

The last thing I think about when I go snowmobiling is how much my gas is gonna cost per fill up.

People don’t think anything of hauling ass 3-4 hours north with a 4 place trailer loaded down with gear and crew getting 10mpg (maybe) but will actual debate all day over a $2-3 Difference at the pump while riding their sleds. Does it really matter? Lmao

Joe, I agree for the most part mpg isn't important. I tow 375 miles one way to ride for 6 to 12 days at a time. But, arguing about sled stuff is all we got right now!<img src="http://www.hardcoresledder.com/forums/images/smilies/beer_cheers.gif" border="0" alt="" title=":bc:" class="inlineimg" />

Ha that’s true. Let’s have an oil debate after this one burns out!

cant wait to run one on my old d7. should be a close race.

i lost pretty consistently to the 800 assault about 1 and a half 2 lengths.

if she slaughters my dragon i might have to put in for one season after next.

Big bores typically run hotter, use more fuel and have shorter life spans. So that's why the 650 should be a better choice for those not wanting all out power. But yes the OEMs have done a nice job making the 800+ sleds and turbo sleds very smooth and easy to operate.

You don't really think a stock 650 is going to beat the assault 800? I am sure it's a peppy engine, but let's be real. How will 138-140 hp, beat 155+ hp?

no, i don 't. but neither could my 7 so a race sounds interesting against one?:dunno:

His sled runs pretty good.. 100+ in 1000 ft un studded. I doubt a stock 650 will do that.
A lot of trail setup 800’s and some 850’s can only muster what you claim. Race prep is another story, back in 04 I had a 685 Carl’s cycle motor in race prep it would surpass 100 mph in 660’. I’m not saying the new 650 will run this good but I believe it will be quick revving and deceptively fast to the C note.

07' 700 dragon is 140 h.p. stock. should be a good race between that and a 650. the new sled weights less so that will off set the 2-4 h.p. difference.
installing gabes clutch kit and some studs in the off season.

got an an slp pipe and fuel controller.

there definitely lighter so yep, thats a race ill look for next season for sure.

All of that doesn’t mean that it runs any better than a well setup stock d7. I’ll put my money on the 650.
never ran one to know.if i find one around to run ill let ya know.

14' 800 assault has me by about 2 lengths consistently in 660.75 percent of that is off the line.

121 aint great out the hole.

its 100 speedo in 1000.92 mph gps.

88 mph gps was my best in 660 ft.

im not claiming its the fastest thing around or something, just interested to try a new 650 and see.

im thinking possibly new season after next and im leaning towards a 650 switch.

just want to see, not start a pissing match.

I dont take racing that serious.
