Hey everyone,
The season is just around the corner, now if we could only get “normal” gas prices we would be in good shape. Anyhow, I am going to be purchasing a new sled this year and I have my heart set on a F-cat. With so many of you thinking that 2007 will bring a F-cat redesign, I’d be silly to buy an 06 and then be stuck with an out of date sled. My best be would be to buy a left over 05 and save lots of money and use some of that to take care of the clutching problems that so many of the 05’s have. What are your thoughts?

I want a SP so, the only thing that is really changing (to my knowledge) is the clutching and the improved floats (stiction – not a huge deal). My question is, is the 05 F6 less prone to the above mentioned clutching issues when compared to an 05 F7 - I think I would be totally happy with the F6 power coming off of a 99 ZR500? Be interested to see what your thoughts are on this. Thanks. Evil

I would and have bought a left over sled. My 03 is a left over and I took it out of the showroom with a year warranty for 6,100.00. I saved a bunch and am very happy with it even though improvements have been made in the newer models.

Point is, every year there could be a potential new update or enhancement and it is all in what you want and when you want it. If you can afford new and want the latest, buy an 06. if you want a good sled and save some bucks go for the 05. Either way you will be happy with the sled. even if you have to adjust the 05 to where you like it.

If it were me, I would save some cash and go for the 05. then put that money into clothing or mods.

You buy the 05 and ride it a few thousand miles. Then you can replace
the clutches with the latter set up. I bought a ZR 900 EFI for my wife on
SEP 2. Can always change the set up later. I have changed the clutches
on my ZR900 EFI 04. No big deal. The F6 will feel like a rocket ship next
to the 500 you were riding. The F6s smoke our ZR 600s.

I just bought a new '05 f-7 EFI standard suspension for $6800. us out the door. I was just trying to compare prices a little bit. The 600 EFI was $400 less.
